"lau's invitations"

Hey Journal!

Happy Friday!

This morning I got up and headed to work for another day of peace and quiet!

Actually, that's what I was hoping for, but it turned out to be much busier than I had anticipated!

I first worked on finishing setting up Bill's new computer and then I started Lauren's. I was doing both at the same time, so there was a lot of running back and forth. The flow was going well until about 11:00 when things started to pile up and I got crazy busy.

The phone kept ringing, dues payments were coming in, I had e-mail to respond to, I had to check Pete's emails, and other things were going on!

I finished up Lauren's computer and then decided I was going to call it a day for computer work!

One thing I had to do was transfer all of our installation CDs onto an SD card! Our new computers don't have CD drives... but they do have card slots! It's actually a lot easier and faster to install the programs from the card, but it did take a little while to get the card set up!

At about 12:30, I brought the big TV that we purchased for the Super Bowl party up to the restaurant. I took it out of the box and then Lauren, Nicole, and I got it set up on its stand.

Once I had it together, it was almost time for our 2:00 tasting! Yes, the last one of the week! Today I was excited for the Chicken Parm! I thought the chicken was EXCELLENT and that the chicken and sauce were very good. The only negative about it was that the pasta it was served with was kinda blah. Just very bland... no taste at all. I did mention that, but overall, I think this chicken parm is still MUCH better than the old one we used to have on the menu.

The chicken on the old chicken parm was too heavy and thick. This is a very big piece of chicken, but it's light and enjoyable.

After our taste testing, we set up the big TV in the middle of the dining room. I hooked up the cable and we did a little test of it all. It looks great, and I think people will really like it. The TV is going to be raffled off, and I bought one ticket! Ahhhh! Maybe I'll win. You know, if I do, I really have no idea if I even WANT this TV! It may be too big for us!

When we were done with that, I headed back to the office. We had gotten a TON of dues payments online! Woo.

Lauren and Jackie were the last to leave, around 4:30, and I finished up as fast as I could and departed at 4:45.

I got home and watched the news. Dan went out right after work with some people he used to work with, so I was by myself. I went to Wendy's with my mom for some dinner and then I came home and took a shower.

Tonight, Lau was having us over to help with her wedding invitations, so Jen B came to pick me up. Dan was going to meet us at Lau's later, and then I would go home with him.

Jen B picked me up at 7:15 and we headed over to Lau's. Re was already there when we got there, and we got right to work. Before starting, Lau began by giving us a few instructions. She said, "I want no ill comments about my actions tonight." She continued, "I will be assigning roles and will also be checking for quality control."

So, Lau showed us her wedding invitations and then explained to us how they were supposed to be put together! Apparently, there is quite the "protocol" for how they are supposed to be assembled and addressed! I never knew there were so many rules behind it all!

The envelopes were already printed up, so we set up an assembly line to complete the process. Jen B began by putting stamps on the little envelopes for the reply cards. She then put those envelopes in the middle of the table. Amanda took the inserts, the direction card, hotel info, and reception card, and collated them. Amanda passed her pile to Re who added the invitation on the bottom and the reply card on the top (adding the return envelope from Jen B.) Then Re passed the pile to me and told me the number on the Reply card. I recorded the number on paper and then stuffed the inner envelope with everything. I passed that over to Lau, and Lau was the final check. She put the inner envelope into the outer envelope.

It moved very smoothly! We were a machine!

When we were finished, we had some "brownish" (brownies) and conversed. We tried to help Re come up with some ideas for a children's book she's writing for a class she's taking. She wanted to write about dinosaurs and things they can and can't do in today's world. My favorite suggestion was that the brontosaurus couldn't go though the drive thru because he was taller than the "Maximum Clearance." hahaha

So, after a little break for some goodies, we got back to work. We had to seal the envelopes and put stamps on. I wet the glue strip with a little sponge and then passed the envelope to Re to flatten and close. Then Re passed the envelopes to Jen B and Amanda who put the stamp on the outside! Very nice operation again! We were a good team!

When we had finished, Ryan was coming home and we decided to hide on him and surprise him. Our surprise was derailed a bit because all of our jackets were outside! Woops!

We hung out and reminisced and talked about random stuff until about 12:30 and then headed home.

Dan didn't wind up coming over and so Jen B dropped me back off at home. When I got home I got ready for bed and as soon as I finish my journal I'm going to have some soup and then I'll be heading off to sleep!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
