"blizzard aftermath, day 2"

Hey Journal!

Today was another day of blizzard craziness. We actually did manage to get out of the house for a while today... but still... the entire weekend was dominated by the blizzard and I'm definitely over it!

I got up today around 11:00 and Dan had been up for a little while already. I watched some TV and then we got ready to go out. We went out to IHOP for breakfast. There were a good amount of people there, but not nearly as many as a normal Sunday morning! We had no wait, though... that was nice! I got the Ham & Egg combo and then after we ate we went over to the mall.

The mall was actually open today, unlike yesterday, but the parking lot was still a mess. We parked by Sears, and most of their doors were closed. They only had one door open over by the hardware section. Weird. So we went over there and then into the mall. There were lots of stores that were closed... but some were open. We just walked around and checked things out and then headed back to the car. We headed up towards Target, but the road was too much of a mess up that way.

Next, we drove over to Nesconset to see if my mom's street had been plowed. It wasn't. They still had no way to get up there. It was wild! People were sledding down the road!

Some of the roads around here were perfectly cleared but the majority of them had a thick, packed layer of snow. Some had patchy areas of that, which made for a very bumpy ride! There were definitely LESS abandoned cars today, but we also encountered a lot of the same cars as yesterday that had not even been touched! I mean, what are you thinking? Why are you just leaving your car in the road and NOT trying to move it!?

We decided to head up to the golf course and attempt to get some pictures there. We drove there, and we were impressed with the Northern State. It was plowed very well. As we headed further south, we noticed that they definitely got less snow than we did. They still got a lot, but it was noticeably less.

We just checked things out there, and then we decided to go over to the outlets. There weren't many people out at the outlets today but because they were working to clear the parking lot, there weren't many spaces, so the available spaces were hard to come by. We happened to park in an area with a few open spots, and as we were walking in, this woman comes and parks completely crooked in two spaces, taking them both up! How rude! She was a fat bitch wearing gross sweatpants! Typical! She was so vile.

Anyway, we went to American Eagle and then we walked around a little, and left. When we got back on the Northern State, it was crazy because the entrance ramp was plowed in the wrong spot so we had to drive over the little curb! So weird!

Before going back, we decided to drive by the bowling alley and check out the damage! We went into the railroad parking lot and there were a couple of other passersby checking out what had happened.

There was this crazy woman there with a big camera. She kept wandering on the railroad tracks and taking pictures. I was ready to take a picture of her getting zapped by the 3rd rail or something. (Though they don't actually have third rails there...)

It was pretty wild to see it in person... The whole center of the roof had collapsed into the building. You could see where the water had run down onto the tracks. I really think the building will have to be demolished. Sad. I love the bowling alley... It's so weird that just a few weeks ago we were talking about how cool it is that it has it's weird old-school-ness.

So, when we got home from that, we watched some TV and then Dan went out to the gym. I cleaned up a little bit, and then when he got back we got ready to go out to dinner with Kristen and Don. We had to pick them up at 6 so we went to ShopRite quickly beforehand to return our Redbox movie. Annoyingly, the box was out of service! So instead, we had to go to the one on Townline road.

We got to Kristen and Don's around 6:15 and we decided to go to dinner at Branchinelli's! Woo. 80s! I got the spaghetti and meat sauce, which was wonderful as always. Our waiter was a little odd. He made some weird jokes and then one time, we think he farted while he was at our table. It smelled so gross.

After dinner, we dropped Kristen and Don back off at home and then we came home for the night. I took a shower and Dan watched some TV. Then around 9 we watched tonight's Once Upon a Time! Wooo! I love this show. Another good episode!

Now I am just getting ready for bed. I am going to go to work tomorrow... of course, mostly because I really don't want to sit around at home another day. I might go a little later than usual though to try to avoid the traffic that might happen on any roads that are still a little less than perfect!

My mom said that her street was never plowed but that in the afternoon some of the neighbors took it upon themselves to snowplow a path down the street for cars. I guess that works.

Anyway, time to get to sleep...

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
