"fireworks at eisenhower park" or "open house"

Hey Journal!

Today we saw some nice 4th of July Fireworks (a little early) and had a lot of fun hanging out in the park! We also had our open house... basically it was a jam-packed day of craziness and excitement!

We got up this morning at 10:30. We spent the next hour cleaning up and getting ready to leave the house so that the Open House could begin! Our real estate agent asked us to be gone by 11:30, and the open house would start at 12. We put a lot of random things in our cars just to keep them out of sight!

At 11:30, we left and figured we'd go over and visit my Grandma for her birthday. Her birthday is tomorrow and they are going to go out to dinner... however, we already had plans to go to the city tomorrow with Julio, so unfortunately we won't be able to attend the dinner!

On the way over, we stopped at the bagel store and I got a bagel and sausage and egg platter. The eggs were actually really good... better than when I get the same thing at Strathmore when we got to visit Norm.

So, we hung out there for a while and talked to my Grandma and Grandpa, and then around 1, we decided to head out. We hung out across the street from our place for about 15 minutes just to see if there was any action. Sadly, there wasn't ANY AT ALL, so we were kinda bummed out about there. I was ready to come home and find that noone had come at all!

Next, we went to Burger King to try their new frozen lemonade. Now, you know I LOVE frozen lemonade, so I was really excited for this. Dan got the strawberry lemonade, and I got the original. They were both GROSS! They were creamy, and weird! I was quite disappointed!

We had more time to kill before coming home, so we went to the park and just sat in the car.

At 2, we arrived back, and Carolyn... our Real Estate Agent told us that a few people had stopped by.

One was a guy who lives in the development just down the road and he was coming to check out the place for his sister. His sister is getting divorced and looking for a smaller place to live.

Another person was a girl who's looking for her first place.

We were talking about when to have the next open house, but I excused myself from the conversation because I really had to go get ready to leave because Re was coming over at 3 and I had to shave, then get changed, and ready to go out to the fireworks!

While I was in the bathroom, one of our other neighbors came over to scope out the situation, and THEN, an older woman came by as well! I had just come out of the bathroom and she was walking down the hallway. She was complaining that she had gotten lost and couldn't find the place, and that she was sorry she was late, and didn't know if she should come.

While she was talking, Dan realized he knew her! She was the receptionist at the place he worked for a couple of months before Canon!

CRAZINESS! I am actually REALLY glad she came late, and came when we were here, because it really seems like she was interested in the place, and I can't help but think that maybe knowing Dan made her MORE likely to want to buy from us! Let's hope so! And let's hope she wants to pay cash! lol

She liked our furniture, too... and she asked if it came with the place. Dan told her, "everything's negotiable!" I agree! Take the furniture if you want it... just let us sell so we can get a house!

She also commented that she loved the picture we have hanging by the door, which is the one we JUST bought last week to cover the electric panel! HAHA!

At 3:00, Re came over and we gave her the rundown on the open house and then we headed out!

We first went to Roosevelt Field because I had to return a shirt I bought from Urban Outfitters online. I also wanted to exchange for some socks. They are WILD socks that say "ass" on them in a pattern! They're really amazing.

That was a pretty quick stop, and then we headed to Linda's house. We went inside, said Hi, and then we headed off to Target to get some snacks for the fireworks later. Connor drove with me and Dan, and Re, Linda, and Cameron drove together.

When we got there, we went on a Supermarket Sweep frenzy and all picked out a ton of snacks we wanted! It was insane. We were all hungry for lunch, so I assume that's why we went wild!

We paid for our stuff and then we headed to check out. The lines were crazy! Lau and Ryan met us there, and they arrived just as we were leaving. We headed over to Panera for lunch. I was very happy that they had my favorite soup!

Connor was really shy at first, not even wanting to look at Lau and Ryan, but as the day went on, he opened up!

So, we ate, and then headed back to Linda's to regroup. We packed up the snacks and put the drinks in a cooler bag. We drove a couple of blocks over, parked on the street, and walked to the park!

It was about a 1 mile walk to the entrance. We got there and handed over our tickets, and tried to find a spot for our blankets! Everywhere down by the stage was already filled up, so we set up camp in the back. It wasn't bad being in the back, though. Not bad at all! It was a perfect view of the fireworks. We couldn't see the musical act on stage, but really... we weren't missing much there!

We got there around 6:30 and the fireworks didn't start until about 9:30, so we had lots of time to kill. Linda had a big queen-size sheet, Lau had a big towel, Re bought a fold-up blanket, and Linda also brought more smaller blankets to act as buffer properties to keep other people away! We had a nice big area and we all spread out and had a fun time!

We ate our snacks and played some fun games. We played one game with a beachball where you had to lay on the ground and pass the ball with your feet! It was great! We did it for a while! SOOOO Weird! Re even thinks that she saw someone taking a video of us doing it! I love it!

The fireworks went off around 9:30 and it was a pretty good show. They lasted for a long time, but the music they played was kinda blah. It wasn't nearly loud enough and the choice of songs was really weird. They didn't fit the energy of the fireworks at all!

Basically, I'm still sticking with the fireworks at work being the best!

Cameron liked all of the PINK fireworks, and every time one would burst, she would say "PINK!!!!!"

After the fireworks, everyone made a mad dash for the exit so we had to scoop up our blankets and belongings as fast as we could so that we wouldn't get trampled by the stempeed!

We walked back to the car, and then we went back to Linda's. We hung out on the front lawn for a while. Connor went inside to play some games, but Camera stayed out and we all played with the beach ball.

At 11:00, we headed home. It was such a fun day... but boy was it long!!

Anyway, now it's time for bed! This weekend has been non-stop! Friday was a wild night, today was busy from the minute we woke up, and tomorrow we have the parade in the city, and have to get up early for that! I love having busy summer weekends, so I won't complain... but I also wouldn't mind if I could have slept a little later today instead of getting up for the Open House!! Though, having said that, I got up on my own before my alarm...

Anyway... until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
