"pride parade"

Hey Journal!

This morning Dan and I got up around 9:30 and got ready to go to the city to meet Julio for the Pride Parade! We got dressed and ready and then left here at 10:30.

Our plan was to get to the parking garage by 11:30 and be lined up with Google by 12!

Last year we had to wait a long time before we started to march, but I was scared to arrive late this year because I was afraid they may have gotten the time issues corrected!! We were running a little late, but we still managed to get to the meeting spot just a few minutes after 12.

Julio wasn't there, he was off taking pictures of the front of the parade, but we got t-shirts and then took a walk to find a bathroom because Dan really needed to pee! We found a porta potty down the next block. After that, I put on sunscreen and changed into my new shirt. It was really small and tight-fitting. They didn't have many shirts left, so I went with it anyway.

We headed back to the Google area and Julio's mom and sister were there. His sister's friend and his niece came, too! We hung out with them until the parade started. It was delayed again, just like last year. Julio was originally going to meet us when we marched past 35th Street, but because it was taking so long he came and met us at the start.

We didn't wind up starting until about 2:45! INSANITY!! So many people had left because it was taking so long. I don't understand why they can't figure out how many blocks need to go before us and tell everyone to meet later!

So, the parade was fun, but not as good as last year. It didn't seem to be as well organized, and perhaps that's because Julio wasn't running it this year! They didn't have any giveaways either! Really not cool. People LOVE to get things from the parade. You have to come up with SOMETHING to give people... plus, it's GOOGLE! People will love anything you give them.

My idea is that next year they should do three things... 1) WHITE SHIRTS. Stop it with these gross grey shirts. Plus, it'll be more Googleish anyway! 2) Something for the marches, every marcher should get something like one of those little drawstring backpacks. 3) 1 giveaway to blanket the crowed with. It doesn't matter what it is, really... just something we can hand out in mass quantities and make sure EVERYONE gets one, and everyone has one! People would go wild!!

It rained a little while we were walking but it didn't come down hard enough to ruin anyway! It was close, but luckily it stopped after a little while. It wasn't too bad... it was hot and humid anyway so the rain just cooled us down!

We walked all the way down, just like last year. Julio's family gave up halfway through, though. I saw them sneak out through a gate.

When we were done, we were both really hungry and tired. I had taken some Advil during the parade so my headache wasn't too bad.

We took a subway from 8th Avenue and 14th Street to 3rd Ave, I think. The L. Then we took the 4 to 42nd Street and walked back to the parking garage!

We were going to stop somewhere for dinner on the way but we felt absolutely gross, so we decided to come home first. We got showered up really quickly and then we went out for dinner.

It was weird, on the way home I was falling asleep in the car and I couldn't keep my eyes open. Then after my shower I got a second wind, and it felt like a completely different day.

We went to Outback in Commack, and as we were sitting there it felt like everything that had happened pre-shower was days ago!

I usually get the Outback Special, but they raised the price on it a little, but added a new item that's almost the exact same thing. It's the Outback special with onion pieces plus a side instead of two sides and no onion pieces. I decided to go for that one!

Our food came out really quickly and we were soooo hungry! We devoured it in no time!

When we got home, we watched Friday's What Would You Do? We were a little pissed because two of the four segments were repeats! I hate that the package them like that! How lazy. You don't have any new content so you put reruns in the middle of two new segments just so you can call the show "new!"

I fear we're getting backed up on TV! We have to watch two episodes of Zero Hour, Whodunnit, and tomorrow we'll have Teen Wolf and Major Crimes! Ahhhh!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
