"sunset and dinner on the beach"

Hey Journal!

This morning I got up before Dan and I headed over to the computer to do some random stuff. When Dan got up, we went to get breakfast at Boulevard Bagels. It's really becoming our new weekend breakfast of choice! We were in a little bit of a hurry, and it ALWAYS takes so long for the food to be cooked, so we called in our order over the phone, and it was ready when we arrived!

I think that may be our best bet for future breakfasts! Even if we call just before we leave home, it gives them an extra five minutes that we don't have to stand around and wait!

We ate outside, and then stopped over to say Hi to my Grandpa. He was sitting out in the backyard getting some sun, but seemed very normal and looked like he was doing much better. He hadn't shaved in a few days so he was starting to grow a beard, but it wasn't even really that noticeable.

We hung out there for a little while, and then we had to head out at about 12:00.

Our next stop was Shawn's "Family Picnic" at Eisenhower Park. We drove out there, and stopped at Target on the way. We got some uncrustables and iced tea for the occasion. We were lucky not to be carded for parking! They usually charge $10 for non-Nassau residents.... ain't nobody got time for that!

We hung out there for a couple of hours, Dan played Kan Jam, and I had some of my PB&Js. We watched people on the weird Trapeze thing they have set up, and I was appalled when a wasp flew into my iced tea! I got a piece of tin foil and captured him. I figured, if he wanted the drink so bad... he could have it ALL! Freaking beast. I hate bees/wasps/yellow jackets. They scare me, and I have no tolerance for them when they come anywhere near me.

We left around 4:30 and before heading home we stopped at Urban Outfitters. Dan wanted to get a shirt, but unfortunately they didn't have it in his size!

We picked up Julio at 6:00 for dinner but we didn't know where to go! We decided that we wanted to eat somewhere on the water, but we couldn't think of any restaurants with outdoor seating on the water!

We decided to go to Branchinelli's and get takeout and bring it to Short Beach to enjoy the sunset! It was actually a really good idea! When we got there, we planned to eat up by the parking lot, but there was a random picnic table down by the water so we sat there instead!

While we were eating, a group of random kids came over and started talking to us. They told us that their families were camping at the beach overnight, and they wanted to "make friends." They were 9th and 10th grade-ish... three girls and one boy. They were very talkative. We talked to them for a bit about the most RANDOM stuff... they were actually kinda crazy! Then, their mom came over, too! She joined in on the conversation!

When they left, she told us... "Thanks for talking to my kids!"

We walked around the beach a little, watched the sunset, and the sky was sooooo nice! It was a perfect mix of pink and blue and the reflection on the water was amazing! Dan, Julio, and I sat on the lifeguard stand and watched the sun go down!

Next, we had no real plans, so we just drove around a little and then finally wound up at Target. We walked around there, and then took Julio home.

When we got back, Dan signed up for a Netflix trial so we could watch Orange is the New Black. Everyone seems to be obsessed with this new show all of a sudden and, of course, we don't want to be left behind!

We watched the first episode, and I like it. I'm not INTO it yet, but I definitely want to watch more.

Now it's off to bed... we have our open house tomorrow... hopefully it'll be the last one!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
