"the shill"

Hey Journal!

This morning Dan and I got up around 9:30 and we spent some time cleaning up for our big open house today! I had done most of what I had to do the past couple of days, so it wasn't as stressful as it has been in the past.

Dan had a lot to clean up, and I just needed to vacuum the hallway. We brought some things out to the car to de-clutter, and then we headed out to McDonald's for breakfast at about 11:15.

I got my usual Hotcakes, but also decided to try the sausage, egg, and biscuit because they had a good sale on it. It was okay, but the eggs taste a little funky.

McDonald's was playing some really weird music today, too. It was like flute versions of some common songs. The one that was playing just before we left sounded soooooo familiar to me, but I couldn't place what it was!

Next, we headed over to the parking lot across the street and met Dan's mom there for our open house mission. We watched as our real estate agent arrived and set up her balloons and then we waited.

So, the back story is that we had our open house planned for today before we got the offer from the "buyer." We figured we would go ahead with the open house just in case things didn't work out, and the buyer wanted to come by today and take another look.

Our real estate agent said that the girl was excited but also seemed a little nervous. This will be her first time buying and moving on her own. We figured she might need a little bit of a push to make sure she was making a good decision, so we took Steve's advice to "send in a shill!" Kristen and Don had originally planned to help us, but they bailed on us at the last minute because Kristen had a toothache. Dan's mom stepped in in their place.

We watched the house intently and at about 1:00, the buyer arrived with a bunch of people. A couple of minutes after they went inside, Dan's mom went in for it! She went in and pretended to be looking to buy for her daughter. She said that she was doing the legwork and wanted to check out some places that might be good for her. While she was there, she engaged with the buyer and her cohorts. She said how big our place was and how clean it looked! She really played it up. My feeling is that it's always good to hear that someone else likes the place that you're interested in... that way it makes you feel like you're making a good decision! We don't want to leave anything to chance!

After that whole fiasco, Dan's mom had to leave to go golfing, and Dan and I went to 7-11 and got Slurpees. We drove around a little, and then our agent called us to say she was leaving.

The buyer's friend was weird, according to our agent. She said he was looking in all the closets with a flashlight and questioned the "weird tubes" in one of the closets. The TUBES he was referring to are FIOS installation hookups. They pre-installed FIOS into our building, and even though we don't have it, if we or anyone else ever wanted to, we could get it with no need for cables or wires to be run. He also asked her what we "intend to do about the holes left behind by the pictures and curtain rods." Ummmmmm? Who patches little nail holes when they take pictures down when they move??! I mean, first off, you probably would put your own pictures in almost the same spots, so you'd just cover them up OR you could patch them and repaint. Why would WE do that? Weirdos.

Alas, they are they buyer, and we REALLLLY need this to not fall though!

When we finally headed home, we watched some more Orange is the New Black! Good episodes! I am officially hooked on it and can't wait to watch the rest of the season. We should be done pretty quickly.. there are only 18 episodes!

Next, we went to Best Buy to get out of the house. We wanted to get the new "Chromecast" to try it out since it's only $35, but they we sold out! Blah!

Next, we went to Target and got some food and stuff, and then we headed home. I had a microwave beef bowl meal and then headed to the gym.

Gym Report:
50 Crunches at 50lbs
1 mile on the Treadmill in 12 mins
1 mile on the Treadmill in 15 mins
2 miles on the EBike in 8 mins

When I got home, I took a shower and then we watched another episode of ONB! As soon as it was over, it was time for Breaking Bad! Good episode tonight, but I need them to move this storyline along quickly because the end if fast approaching and I need as much action as possible!! It was a good episode, but at the same time I felt like nothing really happened!

Now it's time for bed! Golf outing tomorrow... hopefully not too crazy of a day!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
