"chvrches" or "home"

Hey Journal!

So, today was a REALLY long day and I am soooo ready for bed! It started at 9:00 when we got up for breakfast at the hotel. We headed down to the lobby and went to get our food! This morning I had eggs and a waffle.

The eggs were kinda weird.... they were like little balls and had absolutely no taste at all! The waffles were pretty good, though!

After we ate, we headed back to the room to shower up and get ready to leave. I packed everything up and left the hotel room a little before 11:15. We hit the road and headed for home.

We had to be in the city at 7:00 for Chvrches, so we weren't really in a rush. We had absolutely no traffic at all, so we made great time and stopped a few times along the way.

We made our first stop at the Chesapeake House... we went to the bathroom and bought a lotto ticket. (I still haven't scratched it off yet!)

Our second stop was at Cracker Barrel in NJ. We had lunch there, and I got the chicken and dumplings! It was really weird... the hostess brought us to our table and it was THE EXACT same seat where we had sat at Cracker Barrel on the way down to Virginia... only it was at a different restaurant. We were both looking at eachohter as we realized that she was leading us there! Strange!

Lastly, we stopped at the Joyce Kilmer (or as I called it, the Val Kilmer) rest area.

We too the Lincoln Tunnel into the city and there was a little bit of congestion heading into the tunnel. Once we got past that, it was smooth sailing again. We arrived at the place where the concert was going to be at 4:15pm. The doors didn't open until 7, so we found a parking spot. The spot we got was DIRECTLY across the street from the place! We couldn't have asked for better!

Before we left... on Thursday evening... I looked up some nearby parking garages but we didn't have to use them! There was FREE street parking right across the street! It was perfect.

We had a lot of time to kill so we walked over to WABC. I looked at the Eyewitness News studios and then we walked past the doors where I went in when I took my tour of ABC News all those years ago! I really wanted to go inside!

Before going to get something to eat, we sat in a little park across from WABC and just hung out and enjoyed the evening. We figured we'd go to Boston Market for dinner because it was near the place where the concert was and we were in the mood for that kinda food! It turned out to be a really good idea... it was really nice inside, the people were friendly, it wasn't crowded, and we ate our chicken and hung out while we waited for the concert.

We left there around 6:30 and walked back to Terminal 5! The doors had just opened and they were letting people go upstairs to their rooftop-ish bar. Then, we lined up, and they opened the doors to where the concert was going to be.

We weren't too close to the beginning of the line, but we got really prime spots! We were the second row from the front! It was great! We had to stand there from 7 until 8! Yikes!

The opening act was a really weird DJ guy. He played this crazy, weird-ass music, and I have no idea why anyone would want to come listen to him play other people's music. (My thoughts on DJs always!) It was really strange, and his set went until 8:40. It would have been over at 8:30, but he explained that since it was the last night of their tour, we were getting a bonus! Lucky us!

After he was done, they set the stage for Chvrches! They came out at 9:00, and it was REALLY good! I love it. I really liked all of the songs that they played, and a couple of the first ones I want to download. When they played Recover, the place went wild, and it was great!

They had this new microphone stand that lit up, but the girl said she couldn't use it anymore because it was really awkward! They replaced it with a regular old one!

Their last song was The Mother We Share, and everyone went wild for that one, too! I was really glad we went. It was definitely an experience, but I think it was worth it!

It ended at 10:00 on the dot and we were outside and in our car a few minutes later. As we were getting in, a crazy motorcade with tons of police and cars with DC plates went whizzing by! It was intense! I wonder who it was!

We made excellent time getting home, and were in home by 11:15. We brought our stuff in from the car and then we each took a quick shower.

Now we're off to bed and need to get some rest before work tomorrow!! Ahh!!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
