"the crazy house" or "curling club"

Hey Journal!

This morning we woke up around 10:00 and got ready to go see two houses with our real estate agent. We got a little bit of an early start, so on our way over to the first house, we stopped and got breakfast at Boulevard Bagels.

The house is on my mom's street, so we stopped by there first because my mom was curious and wanted to come with us to see it. At 11:00, we walked down the street and met Carolyn in front of the house. She was having trouble getting in because her card and pin weren't letting her into the lockbox on the front door.

Eventually, the woman who lives there came to the door and let us in. We took a look around, and while many many things about the house are very outdated, it was the perfect sized house, had the perfect layout, and I think there's some real potential! The price is extremely low for the area, and so, Dan and I thought that because it's well below our budget, we would be able to take the money we saved on buying the house and put it towards making some changes before we even moved in!

It's also a great location, and I know the street and neighborhood, so that's one variable we don't have to worry about at all!

While we looked around, my mom was talking to the woman who lives there... she's 92, and her son came by, so she was talking to him to. They were reminiscing about the street back in the day, and hopefully that's a plus for us!

When we left, there were people milling around the backyard! This house is like a magnet! It's freaking ridiculous!

Next, we took a ride with our agent to another house nearby. It was a very nice house, and it was completely move-in ready, but at the same time, I wasn't in love with the layout... it was possibly just a little too big for us, and it was definitely at the high end of our price range which means we wouldn't be able to make any changes to the things that aren't US.

The people were home for this, which is always awkward. I like going to houses and being alone with the agents. Then you can really make comments about the house, and talk freely about what you like or don't like. When they sellers are home, you have to whisper so that they don't hear you when you say you don't like something! Ugh!

Anyway, we got dropped off and we hung around for a while, telling my Grandma and Grandpa about the ordeal, and trying to decide what to do. We took a walk down to the end of the driveway to look at the house, and when we did, we noticed that there were MORE people on the front lawn checking it out! It was unreal!

I've never been to an OPEN HOUSE that had that many people interest, let alone people randomly swarming a house that's not even having an open house!

We came outside a few more times, and almost every time, there were people there scoping it out. We even took a walk down the block and a car stopped in the street to just stare at the house! Absolutely ridiculous.

At 3:00, watched the show on the Food network which featured the cruise ship we had just been on in January. My mom missed it the first time, and she was really interested in seeing it!

After the show, we walked down the street to see if there was any more flurry of excitement around the house, and sure enough... there was! I talked really loudly about how terrible a block it would be to live on, hopefully to scare them away!

We left around 4:00 and headed home, got showered up, and ready for Kristen's 30th Birthday Soiree! Re came over around 5:00 and she and I took some boxes over to the storage facility. We also took one of the kitchen chairs. Even though it wasn't a big haul, it's still good to get as much out of the way as possible. Every little bit helps, and every little item is one less thing we have to bring as the deadline draws near!

After that, we headed back, collected Dan, and then headed to Kristen and Don's house for the party. We arrived at 6 and so did her friend from work, Gina. Shortly after, Lindsey arrived, and I was so happy to see her...it's been years since we last hung out!

We all conversed, played some games, and then we had pizza for dinner! After pizza, we played Cards against Humanity!

Unfortunately, tonight was also the first meeting of the curling club we're joining and we had to leave a little early from the party. At 8:50, we said our goodbyes, and then hurried off to Nassau for our club meeting!!

When we arrived, Linda was waiting for us in the parking lot. We encountered Ruth who gave us paperwork to fill out and we forked over checks for over $330 each to participate. In retrospect... it seems a bit pricey... but it's over now, and we're officially MEMBERS!

This week's meeting was an Open House like last time and we got to go over the basics again and we learned some techniques. Originally, they said they were going to break us up into different teams, but we said we really wanted to be our own team. It wouldn't be nearly as fun if we weren't all together!

It went really well, and we had Mike as our instructor. I think we got the best pair of instructors out of the group. There was also a man named Joe walking around who talked to us a few times. He was hysterical! We all loved him!

We did get to play a few ends of a game, and we one! Woo Hoo! We're on track to be undefeated! Okay... maybe not...

Anyway, it was over at midnight and we parted ways and headed home. I'm pretty exhausted now... probably because we got up early to do all of the house stuff.... and then on top of that, I had a couple of drinks at Kristen's party! Our next meeting is next week (although usually it will be every other week,) and I hope to be a little more awake then!

On the way home we stopped at Wendy's to get some food and now it's time for bed!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
