"2013: year in review"

Hey Journal!

Well, here it is... New Year's Eve!! I can't believe 2013 is almost over and we're looking forward to 2014! I always like to write an entry on the last day of the year before the ball drops to look back at all the fun and exciting things we've done this past year!

2013 started out with our big cruise on the Carnival Breeze in the beginning of January! We went to some islands we had never been to before and had a great time! The ship was brand new, it was my mom's first Caribbean cruise, and we made some random new friends who may or may not remember us now!

As far as trips go, we had our summer weekend getaway to Niagara Falls with Re and Lau and had a super-fun time! The drive was great, we had fun at the falls, we had great weather on our first day there for the Cave of the Winds, met pillowy and feathery and celebrated Lau's T-Shirt weekend!! Amazing.

Re, Dan, and I went to Boston in April and had fun exploring the city, taking a Duck Tour, and purchasing melted chocolate bars to drink! We watched bagels get sliced and shot across a conveyor belt, and one night, Re had to sleep on a cot! We also got to see Matt, who we hadn't seen in years AND randomly bumped into someone we had met on a cruise years ago while walking through Boston Common.

Dan and I went to Disney in October and had a lot of fun... we saw Frank and Nicole and Heather and we met talking Mickey Mouse. We saw our favorite fireworks... Illuminations... and we liked the hotel...Coronado Springs... and the free breakfast / snacks / beer at Coconino Cove! The highlight of the trip, perhaps, we getting a MagicBand... the most amazing new thing to hit Walt Disney World!

We went to visit Alec and had an insanely fun night drinking at a bar....It was probably the most drunk I've been all year! We played Settlers of Catan, saw John, and met some of Alec's friends, went out to dinner, and... let's not forget finding a bag of produce outside in the parking lot!

And speaking of drinking... we went to two parties at our friend Arianna's house.... one a few weeks before the 4th of July and got soooo drunk... and then on the 4th of July we returned for a second one! It was sooo hot out that day... we went swimming, and got even MORE drunk playing 7, 11, or doubles!

We also went to see some good fireworks for the 4th of July with Linda, Lau, Ryan, and Re! We went to Lion Dancing, Governor's Island to see antique carousels, Old Bethpage, and more with Connor and Cameron... as well as their carnival birthday party!

We had Lau's wedding in April... that was a fun fun wedding! Then, we had Dan's cousin's wedding in September (never forget the cake incident!) and then there was my cousin Mikey's wedding just last weekend.... also unforgettable for other reasons.

We watched Breaking Bad from start to finish this year and watched Seasons 1 - 3 of Homeland over a couple of weeks, too! Some good songs came out, like Wake Me Up, Timber, Blurred Lines, and Stay the Night. Just a few that stand out right now...

We saw Katy Perry's first live performance of "Roar" under the Brooklyn Bridge (twice) for the MTV VMAs, and we also spent our first real time in Brooklyn that day! We saw Chvrches in the city, and saw Smash Mouth, Sugar Ray, the Gin Blossoms (and more) in Huntington!

I met Melissa Joan Hart at a book signing and decided not to mention the time I poked her in the back on an episode of TRL 10 years earlier.

I joined the gym and went almost every single day until we moved. Oh, and that reminds me... we sold our place and moved out and are looking for a house!! That's a pretty big deal!

We joined a curling club... and although it's just getting started it's already been an experience meeting all of the wacky and wild members!

I turned 30!!!!! WHAT THE HECK!? 30!? I don't even understand! How is that possible! I can't imagine how all the days of my life have added up to 30 years. I don't like being old, but I also like that I don't look it. People still often think I'm 25 or so, and I am certainly okay with that!

Dan and I celebrated 10 YEARS this past weekend, also! Another pretty big deal!

2013 was really a great year! We went a lot of great places, had fun times, hung out with and met some great people, and had fun with all of our friends! What could be better than that!?

Tonight I'm sure we'll have a great time going out to dinner and then celebrating the end of a great year and the beginning of an even greater one!!!! HAPPY 2014 EVERYONE!!!

From 2013, Goodnight! :)
