"snow day"

Hey Journal!

Today was a SNOW DAY! Woop Woop! I really do not like snow anymore, but if we were going to get a storm, this one was pretty well timed. It came after work on Thursday and just in time to cancel work on Friday! There wasn't any need to drive during the storm, and we got less snow than they expected. The worst part about this is the really super cold temperatures we're supposed to have this whole week. UGH!

I got up around 11:00 which I know was crazy, but I was just so tired! Dan and I worked some more on our puzzle and watched an episode of Roseanne.

After that, Dan went out to shovel the snow with his dad. I felt a little bad about not going out to help but at the same time, I don't DO snow. I just can't.

I did some more of the puzzle while watching Reba, and then Dan came back in about an hour later.

We both worked on finishing the puzzle and then we went out to Target. The roads weren't bad, but we took it slow just in case. I got more boxes of those really great cookies! mmmmm! They were on clearance for 50% off and then I got 5% extra with cartwheel!

We came home, hung around for a bit, and then we went to dinner at Applebee's at 7:00 with Jerry. We were going to meet at Cheesecake Factory, but Jerry was having car issues. The night before, he was on his way home at midnight during the storm and tried to make a u-turn on North Ocean Avenue and wound up in the ditch between the lanes!! He had to get a ride home with a random passerby, and then planned to get his car today. The police called looking for him because the car was found abandoned, and his parents freaked out that he had gone missing! Apparently, they were one step away from issuing an amber alert on him! lol

Anyway, we had to pick him up because he wasn't able to get the car out today. We had dinner at Applebee's and it was pretty good. Dan and I did the 2 for $20 and I got the sirloin. Our waitress was a little weird.... she was an old lady named Betty and she was really pushing dessert on us, and she also couldn't figure out who to ring up a purchase on a gift card and a credit card, but do the credit card first. She wasn't a very smart cookie.

On the way home, we decided to go to Starbucks. We went to the one in Nesconset, and when we approached the door, it was locked. We looked at the hours posted next to the door, and it said they were open until 10:30, and I looked at my phone and it was 9:09! We peeked in, and the people inside turned off the lights! Dan and I headed back to our car but stayed there a while. A couple of cars came to the drive-up and then pulled away, and then three employees scurried out their cars! How ridiculous!

If they had closed early last night, or opened late this morning because of the snow, that would make total sense. However, if they were already at work today, why would they leave NOW? The roads were already cleared and not getting worse... so.. they just wanted to go home early?? Such beasts! I wrote a letter to Starbucks regarding this issue and am awaiting a response within one business day.

Meanwhile, we went to the Starbucks in Hauppauge which was still open and I got my Hot Chocolate there.

We came home and helped Dan's mom figure out her Weight Watchers app. It has a cool thing that lets you scan barcodes on food and see how many points they are. We were going crazy and scanning everything in the kitchen!!

After that, we went downstairs and I did a few things online for work, and now we're ready for bed!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
