"park day" or "-blank- men tell no tales"

Hey Journal!

Wow! I am soooo exhausted! We had a pretty packed day with lots of random craziness! Dan and I woke up around 10:00and we watched some Super Password and this week's Carbonaro Effect before getting out of bed.

Once we finally got up and ready, we went to get bagels for breakfast. We went to Blvd Bagels and then ate in the car in the library parking lot. After we ate, Dan wanted to go inside and look for a book to take on his trip next week to California. He had to update his library card and they have NEW cards now, so he had to turn in his old one. I am very much NOT looking forward to getting a new card because I NEED to keep my old barcode. It's not really negotiable!

Unfortunately, they didn't' have the book he wanted. He decided he wanted to start reading Game of Thrones, so we went to the Main Branch since it was available there.

We found the book, checked it out, and then heard from Linda who was ready to hang out for the afternoon! She needed a little time to get ready and come out our way so we went home for a bit.

Linda came around 2:00 we decided to just do random stuff and go to parks. Before we headed out, though, we went to an open house up the street. It was a high ranch, so of course we had no interest, but Linda likes high ranches, so we went t check it out. It was really old fashioned inside and needs a LOT of work. I think for the amount of work that needs to be done it may be a little overpriced, too! It's been on the market for a while though... maybe that's why.

When we were done... we went to park number 1.... The Psych Center! They were charging admission today, so we parked at the soccer field and walked over instead. It's so ridiculous that they would charge people to go there... there is absolutely NOTHING to do there... it's not even worth a dollar... let alone 8!

We walked to the overlook area, and then took a little trail down to the water! We hung out down there for a bit and looked for beach glass. There were tons of pieces of GLASS... but no beach glass! I was quite disappointed.

I was contemplating shorts or jeans this morning, and I think I made the wrong choice because I picked jeans, and it was sooooo hot! We walked around for a while, and then headed back to the car.

Next stop... Wendy's! Everyone was hungry for lunch. We went to the bathroom first to wash our hands and the sink was completely backed up! It was full to the brim... but we still used it because the water just went down the drain at the top! Ridiculous!

After we ate, we got Frostys, of course! I was really in the mood for a Slurpee all day, but we never went to Sevs. It's okay though... the Frosty hit the spot!

Next we went to that little random park that's over near the Middle School called East Hills Park. It's tucked away in a neighborhood, and it has a nice field, basketball court, and handball area... but the playground is a little lacking! We hung out there for a bit and then we went over to the Armory Park by the library.

The playground there was a lot nicer, we especially liked the four seater seesaw! Right next to the playground there's a water park area, and I went inside and pressed the button and all the water started going CRAZY! Dan informed me that there was a sign that the water park area was closed after 4pm, but I didn't know because there wasn't a sign on the entrance that I went in... it was only on the main gate from the parking lot. Weird.

We took a walk around the trail and Connor, Cameron, and I had walking stocks. We got a good picture of ourselves with them! It's a classic.

Next we took a walk around the mall and for dinner we went to Chili's in Commack. Dan was afraid there was going to be a long wait, so I called ahead as we left the mall.

We got there at 8:15 and only had to wait a few minutes for a table. We had a really fun time at Chili's... We got margaritas and Linda and Dan were obsessed with our waiter. He was really friendly, kept smiling at all of us, and was super, over the top, nice. Linda thought he was really good looking.

One of the highlights of the night was when Dan and Connor played a game where Dan would read a phrase and Connor would have to finish it. For example, he said "You can't make an omelette without breaking any ______." And Connor said, "Eggs." He got a lot of them right, but I had two favorites of the ones he got wrong! One was, "A bird in the hand is worth MONEY in the bush." And now, my absolute favorite... "_____ men tell no tales." Connor replies, "BLACK men tell no tales!" SO random!

We were at Chili's until about 10:30 and I have no idea how we stayed that long... it seemed like we had just gotten there!

When we got home, we were super exhausted and got ready for bed right away..... We just watched a really weird movie that was on HBO called The Way Way Back! It was good, but really weird. I always like movies about teenagers who find themselves over the summer... what a great formula for making a movie. It felt a little like Now and Then. But anyway... I was confused in the end because what REALLY happened in this movie? And more importantly... did the mom decide to stay with the guy??

Anyway, I can hardly keep my eyes open now!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
