"more moving" or "cable, security, lawn, sprinklers, and more!"

Hey Journal!

What a LONG day we had today! We had originally set our alarms for 9am but we got up earlier because we just couldn't sleep.

Our first task of the day was to go over to the house and bring the TV so that we would be ready when the cable guy arrived.

Next, we went to Blvds to get some bagels and then went over to get our vacuum attachment that my mom had stored in the basement. We ate our breakfast over there, but my Grandma informed me that my mom had taken it with her to work so that she could bring it to us later!

We weren't there very long and our next stop was Home Depot in Commack (the other one!) We had to get the scraper for the wallpaper remover and also needed some blue tape and febreeze-like spray for the basement.

We got back to the house around 11:15 and while we waited for Dan's mom to come over, we installed the Nest Protect downstairs. I couldn't turn it on, but we figured out where we wanted it and I got it ready to install. I also set up the TV.

Dan's mom arrived shortly after that and she brought Dan's brother and Jessica with her. Dan's mom helped him with the wallpaper removal, and Brian and Jessica helped me to map out the sprinklers in the yard. We also put together the metal shelves for the basement.

The cable guy arrived around 2:00, I think, and he got to work installing everything. He was really nice, and he did a really good job. He was there for a while because one of the things he had to do required him to call in a confirmation number to the office and he was on hold waiting for someone for over 45 minutes. So ridiculous, and such a waste of time! They'd be able to fit in so many more installations if they just let you enter the CableCard info online. (Even if just the technician could do it!)

Meanwhile, while he was setting that up, the Slomins guy came over and gave us a quote for a security system. He was a really nice guy and went over all the things we would need. He wasn't pushy and he explained things well. It seems like his prices were pretty good so I think there's a good chance we'll go with them!

While we were talking to him, the lawn guy came. He explained what he did for the previous residents and said it was $50 a week. That's a little pricey, but the lawn was long so Dan asked him to cut it today. We're going to start looking for lower cost options, though.

After all that was finished, Dan's mom and the gang came back. Shortly after, Re stopped by to see everything! We gave her the grand tour and then we all went furniture shopping. We went to Bob's to get a bedroom set and we asked for Maureen, who was recommended to us by Re's sister, Allison. Maureen was nice, and got us all set! We purchased what we needed and then had some of Bob's Ice Cream. Cookies and cream... It was good.

Next, we went to Raymour and Flanigan to look into some beds and couches. They had a couple of nice ones but we really aren't sure exactly how big the couch needs to be, so we weren't able to make a decision. The mattress shopping was fun but if you really want a nice mattress, you need to spend the big monies! It's crazy how expensive some of them are, but with some of them you can really see why!

When we were done with that excursion, Re headed home and Dan's mom brought us back home.

Dan and I went to the golf course to pick up the big truck so that tomorrow we can move some bigger things, and more things at once. We picked it up and on the way back home we stopped at the storage place to get a couple more things. We figured since we were passing right by it, we might as well make a trip. Every bit we take now is one less thing we have to worry about tomorrow, and clearing out the storage is important when my cousin comes to help tomorrow!

I was a little nervous about driving the big truck again, but it all came back to me pretty quickly! The worst part about it is that you can't see what's behind you at all. Not in the rearview mirror or the side mirrors. It's really weird, and I never realized just how much truck drivers can't see.

When we got home, we brought the items inside and then we installed the second Nest Protect. Just before we left, my mom stopped by with the vacuum cleaner attachment, and then we called it a night.

We got back here around 10 and took showers, and now we're exhausted and heading off to bed! Big day ahead of us!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
