"emptying the storage unit" or "first night in our new home"

Hey Journal!

Tonight is the first night we are spending in our new house! It's really exciting... But at the same time I feel really weird about not living at Dan's parents house anymore!

I felt really sad leaving there tonight knowing we weren't going to sleep there anymore and that we were moving out! I know we have looked forward to it for so long but now that it's happening, I have all the feels.

Today was an INTENSE day!! I couldn't sleep, so I got up at 7am! I did alas of laundry and then Dan got up a little after 8.

We had French toast for breakfast and then we headed out to the store to get some supplies. First stop was Home Depot. We had to get more Dif and this time we got the roller kind!

We left there at 10:04 which was perfect timing because Price Club opened at 10. We went there and got paper towels, toilet paper, some cleaning products, milk, and batteries (because our TiVo remote has needed them for WEEKS!). We also got laundry detergent in preparation for our washer/dryer delivery tomorrow.

We got back to the house around 11 and I stayed home to install the Nest protect and thermostat while Dan made a trip to storage to get some more boxes.

Hooking up the Nest was really cool- I love the way it talks to you and does the test. "The test will be loud."

I also worked on getting our TV set up properly.

Dan made a few trips back and forth to storage and the at 4:00, Dan, Jackie, and Evelyn came by! We gave them the grand tour and then went we went to the storage facility to get the heavy stuff.

We took the truck from work and loaded it up with our couches and other big furniture! We made one trip and got it all! There are still smaller boxes, but all the big stuff is out.

Dan and Dan got everything out really quickly- quicker than putting it in. I guess getting it to all fit in is harder than removing it.

The trip back was crazy- I drove the truck and Dan and Dan followed me. Dan videoed the wild ride, and the craziest part... when the police put on their sirens and I had to pull over to let them pass. This happens JUST after I had changed lanes, too!

When we got back, before emptying the truck, we ordered a pizza and we all ate out on the front porch! It was such a nice night and it was fun eating out there.

When we were done, Jackie and Evelyn left and Dan and Dan unloaded the truck. Once we had it all inside we made one more trip. This time to Dan's parents' house to get the bed and nightstand!

The second trip was in the dark, which made it a little harder and then it was pretty hard getting the mattress over the banister upstairs!

Once everything was in, Dan left, and then at about 10:00, we went back to get our pajamas and stuff.

We decided to take a shower there instead of bringing everything for the bathroom tonight. We did take some stuff back with us, but there's a ton of random stuff there that we will need to bring over the next week or so.

It's really weird because, like I said before, we felt so weird leaving Dan's parents' house knowing that we wouldn't be sleeping there anymore! Even though we were so ready to go, we feel sad leaving. I don't know why, or how to explain it!

Anyway, we finally left there around 11:00 and when we got HOME, we put together the bed frame and headboard in the guest room. We aren't able to use the master bedroom yet because we have to finish with the wallpaper and painting.

After the bed was all together, we put on our pajamas and watched Doctor Who. We had to finish last week's episode before the new one tomorrow!

Now it's really late considering how early we got up! We're both exhausted and it's time to get to sleep!

Here's to our first night in our new home!
