"triplets 13th birthday" or "the move continues"

Hey Journal!

Today was another pretty busy day... well... at least the first half was crazy. Thankfully we had a chance to relax in the afternoon. We got up around 8:00 and Dan went to the bagel place to get us breakfast and I went to Dan's parents' house to get my belt. (Yeah, my pants were falling down.)

We met at the storage facility and we loaded up the car with lots of boxes. We loaded up both cars, actually. It was hard to find a cart but the people in the unit next to us (who apparently run a business out of their unit) managed to procure one and let us alternate using it with them. That worked out really well!

Anyway, we got almost everything out. The reason we did that today was because Dan had called this morning to find out how the move-out procedure works, and they said if we're all out by tomorrow, we don't have to pay for September! YES!

We wound up making two trips there, and on the way back from the second trip I stopped at Dick's Sporting Goods to get gift certificates for Eric, Ryan, and Alexandra for their birthday!

Their party was this afternoon! It started at 2. We got back home around 12:30 and Dan got the call that the delivery guys were going to be here in 30 minutes with our washer and dryer!

Last night he had gotten a call that they would be here between 11 and 3 and we were really hoping for the earlier side since we had the party to go to! Luckily it worked out perfectly.

The guys pulled up around 1:00 and they came in, unhooked our old washer and dryer, carried them out, and before they brought the new ones down I vacuumed under them. Lots of dust and junk there.

They had a cool contraption for lifting the washers.... It was a harness thing that went around their necks. Weird!

The new ones were in place and hooked up in no time. The man tested them, and then they were all finished.

Originally we were going to keep the old ones to sell online, but today we decided it would be too much of a hassle, especially with everything else we have to do, to put an ad online and then have to deal with someone coming to get them and all to make maybe $100? However, we did save enormously because the new ones have longer cords and we were able to have them installed the way we wanted them... with the washer on the left and the dryer on the right.

As soon as that was finished we got dressed and headed off to the party. It was about 1:45 then.

We stopped at CVS and got three birthday cards and then wrote them out in the car, inserted the gift cards, and off we went.

We got to the party around 2:15! Perfect timing.

It was their 13th Birthday! Pretty wild. I said "Surprise!" when I saw Alexandra. I'm so funny.

It was much cooler out than it usually is on their birthday.... we didn't even really go in the pool. I think my Uncle Joe went in very briefly, but that was all. It's kinda standard for this summer... It's been cooler all around! No really hot days!

I was so hungry, I hadn't eaten much today. The food they had was Greek so I was a little skeptical. I didn't use the pita bread, but I did take some chicken and lamb. It was actually quite good!

We had a fun time... Dan played Bocce and Volleyball, and everyone was interested to hear about our new house!

Before cake, I ran out for about 10 minutes to Staples to get some blank CDs. I hadn't burned the music for the Extravaganza tomorrow, and I really needed to do that tonight!

I wasn't gone long at all, and when I got back we sang happy birthday. Also, Christen found a GIANT hornet or bee's nest in a tree on the front lawn and my uncle took a garden hoe and smashed it. I was really expecting HUNDREDS of bees to come flying out and I was ready to RUN in the opposite direction. It was weird, though... there were only about 20 or so, and they all fell to the ground and couldn't fly. They were really gross looking, though.

Anyway, Dan played some more volleyball and then we headed home at 8:30. I don't think everyone else stayed much longer than that but we had to get going because we needed to go to Dan's parents' house to get some clothes and stuff we needed. We also took a shower there.

We keep saying that we've taken our last showers at Dan's parents' house and then every night we wind up back there!

Anyway, after that we I burned the fireworks music to a CD and then we headed home.

Sidenote: It's really weird how one day I say, "and then we went home" and meant Dan's parents' house, and now I say "we went home" and mean somewhere completely different... OUR ACTUAL OWN HOUSE!

We put on our pajamas and then we ran the washing machine for the FIRST TIME! It was pretty cool. It makes fun noises. It also uses so little water that it's concerning! It's wild how it can wash your clothes with so little water.

The only downside to front loaders is that you can't use dryer sheets. I love those Bounce sheets and they smell so good! They say that you can use liquid fabric softener instead in the washer, and I hope that that leaves the clothes smelling good, too!

Our first was was the mattress pad for our bed. It needed to be washed before we put it on the bed in the new house.

Anyway, now it's time for bed! We have to empty the last items from our storage unit tomorrow morning to avoid paying for an extra month and we also have to do laundry before the extravaganza! It's gonna be a crazy day!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
