"room complete....edged like a pro!" or "frog tape"

Hey Journal!

I'm so not ready to go back to work tomorrow... I don't feel like we got to really relax at all this weekend. On the bright side, we did get a LOT of work done, and getting that room painted feels like a really big accomplishment!

This morning we got up a little before 10 and after only about 15 minutes of wake-up time, we got right to work on the second coat of paint. We we finished by 12, and the room looked GREAT! The only thing we had left to do were the corners, and the dreaded LINE where the two color of paint meet! We were REALLY scared about it not coming out perfect.

While we waited for the second coat to dry, we went out for breakfast. We went to Boulevard Bagels in Nesconset and it took FOREVER to get our food even though the place wasn't even that crowded!

We went to say hi to my Grandma and Grandpa and we brought our food over there to eat. Surprisingly, my Aunt Maureen and Uncle Joe were there! They seem to be making a habit of weekend trips to Long Island! After our housewarming party, they're going to be so sick of the drive here they may never come back!

This time it was to bring my Aunt Karen here. She had flown up from South Carolina and now she's back. Who saw that one coming?

After we ate, my Aunt and Uncle departed, and so did we. We went to Home Depot in South Setauket. We returned the dryer duct that had been delivered to us with our washer/dryer. It didn't reach, so the delivery guy said we could bring it back.

We picked up some more things we needed while we were there, got a new light for the front of the house, and then when we got home we started the EDGES! We took the tape off the ceiling and even though we had used the Blue "paint lock" tape, it didn't make a crisp line like I had hoped. I had purchased Frog Tape also, but we didn't use it because it wasn't thick enough to protect the ceiling from the roller.

For the edge, I didn't want to take any chances, so we put the frog tape on and then we painted the corner with the brush!! I was so nervous when we were done because having a really defined crisp line would make all the difference in the way our room looks! Luckily, when it was time to peel it off it came out AMAZING! The line was perfect. I was soooo happy. The frog tape REALLY is the way to go.

Meanwhile, there were some spotty areas of the ceiling and I used the frog tape to make a crisp line and get rid of some scraggly looking spots. It worked great!

The moral of the story is that Frog Tape is the best tape to use when painting and it's worth any extra money you may have to spend for it. GET IT!

We installed the new light on the front of the house, and we were pretty good at it. Electrical things always scare me, but it's really not that hard if you really think about it. As long as you turn the electricity off, you should be fine! (That's the scariest thing, though.)

It looks nice, and while we were out there finishing up, another neighbor came to say hi. Actually, it's the daughter of the one neighbor we had already met. Her name is Danielle, and she appeared to be around our age. She seemed really nice.

Despite our commitment NOT to go Home Depot any more for a while, we went back out again at 5. We had to get more light switch plates and outlet covers for our bedroom. While we were there, we also got

Out again to home depot around 5, get wall plates and light bulbs

We got back around 6:15 and my mom came by to drop off the Hue light bulbs and to see the paint in the bedroom. The Hue lights were really cool. We tried them out on the porch and they are amazing. Especially in Hue Party mode. It was insane with them changing like crazy.

After that, I took a shower and did some laundry. We had Target pizza for dinner and watched the second National Treasure movie which was on TNT.

Now it's time for bed! Finally a somewhat reasonable bedtime! We really needed this!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
