"painting party" or "i hate oil based primer"

Hey Journal!

Wow... We did a lot today! It was a packed day of priming and painting! We got up around 10am and we watched a little TV and looked online for some color ideas for our bedroom.

We had a few possibilities picked out and we went to Home Depot to get a few more supplies we needed to be able to start priming the walls. We needed painting tape and some more brushes. When we got there, we played with the same Behr color selector app that we had used at home. They had a kiosk, and we tried a couple of different colors on a sample room. We were leaning towards one called "Blue Fox" and then Dan suggested that we at least LOOK at a darker color. While I was afraid that a darker color would make the room TOO dark, we gave it a try.

When I picked the darker color, called Pencil Point, I pressed one wall, and that wall changed. Before I even got to select the other wall, we both realized that we LOVED it. One wall dark, and the other three light! It looked great in the picture, and we were pretty sure that was what we needed.

I had a $20 off coupon when you spend $200 so we got the paint, supplies, and a new faucet for our bathroom. We also got a towel rod and hand towel holder thing. The coupon expired today so we had to get over the $200 to use it today.

We got home a little before 1 and started to get ready to prime. We taped up the room, and then at 1:00, Dan's mom came with Dan's Aunt Amy and her friend Bonnie to see the house. We gave them the grand tour, and they checked everything out.

As soon as they left, it was PRIMER time. We started in the corner and started to make our way around the room. I had only done one panel when Linda arrived to help with the job. We were a good team, a reunion of BnL Painting from that time that we painted the hallway in the basement at work!

We had a good time with it, but it was very tedious. The primer was the worst. It was so hard to see what we had done, and there was no real sense of satisfaction because it was just WHITE and boring. It also smelled TERRIBLE because it was oil based and the fumes were getting to us!

When we finished, we had to let it dry, so we went to Applebee's for dinner. Our waiter was weird... he had our table and one big table and he kept apologizing telling us that the reason he was unattentive was because he had a big table. Weird.

Before we headed back, we went to Harbor Freight Tools to redeem our FREE GIFT coupons! We were very excited. We got a free tape measure, a screwdriver set, and a flashlight. BAM!

While we were there, we got a work light because we figured it would come in handy for painting the room. And boy did it! We would never have been able to paint with just that one lamp we had in there. The work light lit up the entire room and made it sooooo much easier to see.

We started with the Blue Fox and made our way around the room. This time was a thousand times more fun than the primer. It was so much more satisfying seeing the COLOR on the walls and it just felt like a completely different job.

When we were done with those three blue walls we started on the Pencil Point wall! It came out REALLY nice and it looks incredible. The guy at home depot told us to definitely do two coats, and we had figured we could get a second coat on tonight, but it turns out we couldn't. There just wasn't enough time.

We finished up around 9:30 and went outside in the dark to wash off the brushes and stuff. What a mess! lol

Finally, we made our way to Chili's for some celebratory Frozen Margaritas! MMM. Dan and I each got the two-fers and shared one Strawberry and one Regular. Then we got one more strawberry and had one each.

We left there a little after 11 and Linda headed home from there. When we got home, we got showered up and then watched the Teen Wolf Wolf Watch show. We had recorded it after the season finale and hadn't watched it yet.

Anyway, the moral of today's story is that we hate oil paint and we love latex paint.

OH, and before I go to bed... ONE MORE AMAZING THING I FORGOT TO MENTION.... When we woke up this morning, before heading to Home Depot.... we drove by ONE MORE TIME to see if we could find my missing car piece. We went by twice, and on the second trip WE FOUND IT!!! It was in the middle of the right shoulder. I don't know HOW we could have missed it last night..... even if it was dark out!! It just doesn't make sense!

It has a few scratches on it, but nothing major. It's a small piece, anyway... so I'm sure it won't be noticeable. We didn't put it back yet.... we were so busy today!

Anyway.. IT'S SOOOO late! Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
