"cabazon dinosaurs" or "laguna beach"

Hey Journal!

Well, today was a fun day...but a lot less organized and/or eventful as previous days. We woke up around 7:00 at our hotel...the Alpine Inn near Disneyland. We got ready and then packed up our stuff and loaded the car.

At around 8:00, we headed down to the lobby and ate some muffins for breakfast and then set out to Palm Springs! We contemplated driving up to San Francisco, but we decided against it because it's just TOO far. It would take over 6 hours to get there, cost too much in gas, and even worse than that, it would be COLD!

The weather here is in the 80s and in San Francisco, the high for the next few days is only 70!

On the way to Palm Springs, we stopped at Target and then when we arrived we went to the Visitor's Center and tried to find a hotel. We weren't exactly sure where we wanted to stay, so we decided to drive around and see what there was to do in the town. Sadly, it didn't seem like much! We went to the small casino there, but they didn't have a Willy Wonka slot machine, so we quickly made our exit. There really wasn't anything else going on, so we left. We headed back to the highway and made the stop of the day...

We went to the Cabazon Dinosaurs! They're two giant dinosaurs on the side the road! Now, you know I love random american road thing... like a giant thimble for example! This was amazing. To add to the excitement, these are the dinosaurs in Pee Wee's Big Adventure! YES! We took lots of pictures there, and then hit the road again.

We went to another casino that happened to be nearby, but there was no Wonka there, either. Finally, I got the idea to look online to see where the game was! There was a casino about 20 minutes away, so we went there. We located the coveted slot machine and waited for the people to get up. Unfortunately, we didn't have the luck we had hopes, and left with $45 less than we had when we came in. Blast!

From there, we didn't know where to go. We had no plans and no idea what to do. We thought about going to San Diego, Escondido, and a million other places, but without any idea of what to do in these places, it's kinda hard to pick one!

At Jackie's recommendation, we decided to spend the night in Laguna Beach. It took about an hour and a half to get there, plus the time we stopped for dinner.

We stopped at the Outback in Corona. As much as I like going to local places that we can't go to at home, it was nice to have a full meal of stuff I liked at a reasonable price. I just needed to have a normal meal!

The other night when we went to the Tam O'Shanter, I LOVED the food but the portions were too small, so we left hungry!

Anyway, we stayed at the Riviera in Laguna Beach. It's right on the water and our room faces the ocean! I'm sure it will be much more of an amazing view when we wake up because it was dark when we got here.

Dan and I went in the hot tub for a little while here at the hotel and then we got showered up and took a walk down to the main town portion. It's a really nice place, but doesn't seem like there's much to do...especially at night.

Tomorrow's plan is again kinda open-ended. We decided to continue down to San Diego, check things out there, and then see if we can find something to keep ourselves entertained. That's the dangerous part of this trip... not having any activity... it gets a little crazy at times.

Anyway... I'm pretty tired now so we're going to get to sleep!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
