"magic kingdom in the rain" or "seven dwarfs mine train" or "non-progressing carousel"

Hey Journal!!

Today we got up at about 8:00 and got ready to go to Magic Kingdom! The weather looked iffy today... pretty cool and lots of chance of rain! We got dressed, I wore long sleeves and jeans, and then headed out to The Mara to get breakfast.

We did a repeat of yesterday and got the Bounty Platter. Then we made out way to the bus stop. It took FOREVER for a Magic Kingdom bus to arrive and the line was really long when it finally did. We fit on, though, and off we went.

Frank was already there and he met us at the front entrance to give us special free tickets. He got them because they were given out to cast members for the Christmas Day show that was being taped today. Ariana Grande was singing, and we got there just as she was finishing up. Then we hung around for the next act which was a girl named Lexi Walker who is apparantly a "YouTube sensation." I know that because every time they said her name they called her YouTube Sensation Lexi Walker."

She was good....she sang Let It Go, which I don't really like, but she was good nonetheless.

Before she was finished it started to rain and we decided to get out of there. We made a stop at Rapunzel's Bathrooms and then we went to PhilharMagic to get out of the rain!

Next we used some of Frank's special FastPasses to ride the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train!! It was pretty cool! This was our first time ever riding it! It was a lot shorter and a lot tamer than I thought it was going to be, but it was still a cool little ride. I think it was a good ride given that we had no wait, but to wait over 80 minutes on a standby line for it is absolutely ridiculous!

We made our way through the rain and over to the PeopleMover! Always a favorite! We rode that around Tomorrowland and then when we got off we used some more special FastPasses for Space Mountain.

After that, Frank realized that he had forgotten his umbrella on the PeopleMover, so we went back to see if we could locate it. Luckily, someone had found it and turned it in, and we were able to get it back!

It was STILL raining, so we ducked into the Carousel of Progress! The first transition, from the opening to the first scene went smoothly, and then the second one had a little hiccup. It was about 20 seconds late, so we missed a little of the next scene. Then, when it was time to change, the carousel started to move and then abruptly stopped!! We sat through the same scene again.

That was all well and good, and everyone was pretty quiet and patient. Then, it came time to move again and we didn't go anywhere! AMAZING. This time, people started laughing and talking to eachother during it. They kept announcing that the Carousel would being moving again in 5, 3, 1 minute! Then it came time to move, and NOPE! Nothing! This time everyone was talking back to the show. It was amazing. "Have you ever heard of something called the RAT RACE?" "YES!!" and my favorite... when the boy and Rover howl... the whole group howled back! Perfect! I was cracking up. The fifth time it started to play, they made an announcement. "WE WILL BE EVACUATING THE CAROUSEL, PLEASE STAY SEATED UNTIL SOMEONE COMES TO ESCORT YOU OUT." I loved the choice of words... evacuating made it have so much urgency!

Anyway, when nobody came, one woman decided she had had enough. She started a mutiny and opened the door herself. Then, when nobody else got up she rallied everyone..."LET'S GET OUT OF HERE!!" And everyone got up! I wanted to stay sitting, actually... and I would have just to see how many times I could watch the same thing! Alas, we didn't, but on our way out we went up to the stage and got some really nice close-up pictures!

As we walked around the outside of the carousel (reliving a memory of my mom and I doing the same thing when the animatronics went dead) Frank said that the next scene would have been a fun one to get stuck in. The cast member who was letting people out of that scene said, "These people weren't saying that!"

Free from the non-progressing carousel, Frank had to say goodbye and pick up Seth from work. Dan and I went to our lunch reservations at the Be Our Guest restaurant! We had pre-ordered, but the pre-order didn't work, so we had to order again. Ugh! I don't think I've ever had that work.... I don't understand why.

The food was excellent. I got the Braised Beef and Dan got the Croque Monsieur. We shared a chocolate cupcake.

We sat in the West Wing which is the best place to be. It's such an amazing room! We got some hot beverages before leaving because it was COLD outside. Dan got coffee and I got hot chocolate.

Next up, we had our first real FastPass of the day, Under the Sea - Journey of the Little Mermaid! Next we had a FastPass for the Mine Train and then we had to get out of the rain again so we headed to the Hall of Presidents! A good show, as always.

After that we made our way to the Monster's Inc. Laugh Floor, one of Dan's favorites. There was a kid with his sweatshirt on his head and they called him out on it. That was pretty funny.

We did another lap on the PeopleMover, because let's face it... it's the best ride in the park and there's never a line. When we got off, we had a FastPass for Space Mountain. We rode that, and then added an additional pass for Pirates! There was no wait at all for that FastPass, so as soon as we walked over we got on. There were lots of people in the Standby line which is crazy because most of them could probably have just gotten FastPasses and skipped the wait!

We went to the Enchanted Tiki Room and then the Country Bear Jamboree! Classics.

At 6:25 we had our dinner reservations at Liberty Tree Tavern. I really don't think I had never been there, and I know Dan and I had never gone there together. My mom thinks we went there together, but I don't remember that.

It was a really nice restaurant... I loved the theme of it. So cool! Our waitress, Marsha, was a wild one. From Canandaigua, NY. It's basically like a Thanksgiving Dinner. Turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, bread and biscuits, string beans, and other random things. All you "care to enjoy."

For dessert there was some wild craisin thing that I didn't like so I just got some plain vanilla ice cream. I had some tea, too, to warm me up since it was cold, damp, and dreary outside.

We had gotten another FastPass after Pirates, this one for Peter Pan, but it wasn't until late in the evening so we decided to just change that to Winnie the Pooh, which was available right away.

We rode that and then called it a night around 7:30. We came back to the hotel.... the first bus that stopped was packed and we didn't want to stand. We saw there was another one RIGHT behind it, so we waited for that. It cost us about 2 minutes but we got a SEAT on an almost empty bus which was so worth it.

When we got back we went in the hot tub. It was cold and rainy still but the hot tub was amazing. We stayed in for a while... until it closed at 10:00. Sometimes I get really hot and dehydrated after being in there for a little while but tonight was good because it was so cold out it felt nice to be in the warm water.

I took a shower and now we're just getting ready for bed. Tomorrow's plan is Animal Kingdom! We had a FastPass for the safari at about 9:30 so that's when we're shooting for.

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
