"animal kingdom" or "ohana legend"

Hey Journal!

Today we were very happy to have no rain, but it was still much colder than I am used to for Disney! We woke up this morning at 8:00am and we got ready to head to Animal Kingdom!

This morning we had cereal in our room and then headed down to the bus stop. Before I give you the rundown of the day, I'll give an update on my foot. It hurt a little bit today, especially in the morning, but towards the afternoon and evening it's been feeling much better. I am hoping that's a good sign and I really am being optimistic... I think tomorrow I should be fine! :)

As soon as we got there we made our way to Expedition Everest. We did the standby line which was really no line at all! It was so cold in the morning... it was brutal! As soon as we finished the first ride, we got back on again.... this time sitting in the very front!

Next, we headed over to Kilimanjaro Safaris! We saw some cool animals... a lot of them were out this morning which was pretty neat. I still think it's weird that they got rid of the whole popacher thing... although that was weird, too!

We met Baloo and King Louie! That was fun... they were cool, and we got a fun picture with them!

After that we went to the Flights of Wonder, the best bird show I've ever seen! The same guy was playing the tour guide, and he's absolutely amazing! This show was a little different than past ones I've seen... they had a couple of little hiccups. First, a mouse was walking on the stage randomly, and later on when one of the birds came out it went over and killed the mouse and carried half of it off!! They played it off, and it was really funny! I guess they tried to make light of it for the kids but everyone knew what was going on! Later on in the show the girl slyly picked up the remains of the mouse and fed it to the next bird that came out. It was something else! Then, when they brought out the bald eagle, it crapped all over the place! What an interesting show!

When it was over, we went back to Expedition Everest to use our FastPass there. When we were finished, we headed over to DinoLand USA to do Dinosaur. Before that, we got a picture with Explorer Donald! He was pretty cool... he really liked the sleeves on Dan's jacket, and he held my hand for a second. I think he... was fond of me.

Dinosaur was good, we made a good face for the camera. It's on our MagicBand, so I'll have to check it out when we get home. Around the same time we got on the ride, it must have broken down for a little bit which worked out well because they gave us a FastPass to anything else in the park, which we used for Primeval Whirl as soon as we were done with Dinosaur.

At 12:30 we had reservations at Yak & Yeti! We got there right on time and we had a great lunch. The woman who sat us was from Ronkonkoma, so we had a chat with her and I got the LoMein without cabbage or bean sprouts. It's really good LoMein... I wish it tasted like this at the Chinese places by us!

Before leaving the park we wanted to catch It's Tough to Be a Bug at the Tree of Life. We did that, and then we said farewell to Animal Kingdom!

We came back to the hotel and got here around 2:30. Dan went to Kidani Village to take the Vacation Club tour. For doing it, he got a $100 Disney gift card and three FastPasses to anything we want! Niiiiice! We're going to use one tomorrow for Rock N' Roller Coaster since we couldn't get one for that when I planned them online (you can only pick one premium ride and we used it on Midway Mania!)

I hung out in the room for a while, did something I had to do for work, and then checked out the lobby a little. When Dan got back we headed off to Epcot!!

We rode Journey into Imagination and then as we were walking out we were just in time for a showing on Captain EO. We hadn't seen it in years, and had only seen it once, so we figured we'd give it a while. Wow. Weird. It's so strange, and such a ridiculous attraction. I don't even know what to make of it. I feel confident in not seeing it again, though.

We went to The Land after that and rode Living With The Land. I figure if we ride it enough, someday we may "truly be living with the land."

Before we left we did Spaceship Earth and then we took the monorail to the TTC and then to the Polynesian! We had 7:55 reservations for 'Ohana! We checked in right on time but they didn't take us in for about 15 minutes. We were hoping to be able to stay there until the Magic Kingdom Christmas fireworks at 9:30, and it all worked out perfectly.

We enjoyed our unlimited meat, but more than the food, I enjoyed the woman who runs the show. She's absolutely amazing... a legend. She's been there every time we have been there, and she does the torch lighting ceremony each night and leads the show at the restaurant. She is such a personality. She's amazing amazing amazing.

We got a photo with her after her singing and stuff. What a great personality she has. We asked, and she said she's been doing it for 19 years! That's amazing.

The fireworks started at 9:30 and we watched from our table. It was really nice. Then we had dessert. I had some cupcakes and Dan ate the banana cake thing.

When we were done, we took the Monorail over to the Grand Floridian to see the gingerbread house! We took some pics and then hopped back on the monorail to Magic Kingdom and then go the bus back to the hotel!

It's pretty late now and we have to get up early tomorrow for Hollywood Studios! We have a lot to do there, and our first FastPass is at 9:25!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
