"christmas decorating" or "moving to our new bedroom"

Hey Journal!

This morning Dan and I got up around 9:00 and we got ready to go out to breakfast with Dan's parents! We met at Relish at 10. I really love the food there... what a great breakfast!

Dan and I got there first and put our name down. They got there shortly after and we didn't have to wait long at all for a table. I got the Egg Special which I have gotten every other time we've been there.

After breakfast, Dan and I went to Target in Commack South to look for some Dr. Seuss prints that they had there last time. They never have them in our Target, and they were all out of the ones we were looking for today, too.

We did buy some more Christmas lights for our house. We decided that it would look weird to have icicle lights on the roof and then colored lights on the bushes, so we just got more colored lights and figured we could put them up there, too.

Next we went over to Price Club to get some food that Dan wanted. We went in with the intention of only getting that ONE thing, and we left with a cart full of items! We got paper towels, water, and some crazy Christmas decorations. There was this big Santa figure... it was amazing... we had to have it!

We came home after that and brought in our frozen food and then went out on the roof to put up the new lights. Dan clipped the plastic clips to the gutter and then we ran the extension cord from the porch. It was a little hard to figure out how to run the extension cord and I am actually still a little worried that it's not secure. My real fear is that it will fall and then rip the siding off! Yikes. Let's just hope that doesn't happen.

Once we were finished with the lights, Dan went to the backyard to bag more pampas grass and I worked MORE on setting up the Christmas stuff inside. We have SO MANY CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS! It's insane!

It's looking really great, though!

While Dan was outside doing his stuff, he was talking to our favorite neighbor, Cheryl! She was outside with the leaf blower backpack doing her yardwork, too!

Dan came in for a little break from that and we FINALLY moved our mattress from the guest bedroom to our room. It's so weird because we are so used to sleeping in the other room. It's even like our actual bedroom didn't exist. So now we have a whole new room!

When we first moved it, it was WAY too high! We put the box spring on top of the new bed frame and then the mattress on top of that! It was the tallest bed I've ever seen and you ALMOST needed a step stool or small ladder to get in to it! It looked ridiculous, too. I would have been embarrassed if someone came and looked into our room and saw that!

Eventually, we decided to ditch the box spring. I guess you don't REALLY need it. The frame of the bed acts as the support, it's just weird not having it, and it came with the mattress... so now, what do we do with it!?

My mom stopped by on her way to the gym to bring us some ribbon so that we could hang up some christmas ball decorations that we bought for outside.

Dan finished up his yard work around 6:30 and then we headed out to get a gift card to Branchinelli's...

Today was Small Business Saturday... and that means that American Express gave $10 back (up to three times) when you spent at least $10 at a small business today on your card! This morning's breakfast counted as the first time, and then we went out to Branchinelli's to get a gift certificate for the second $10! After that, we went to Yogurtini and spent $11.67... or just $1.67 after our credit! Not bad!! Way to take advantage of a deal!

When we got home, Dan went to the gym and I did some random stuff around the house. When he got back around 8:30, we fired up the BBQ grill and made some steak for dinner. When we were at Price Club earlier, we got steaks. We had two tonight and are saving the other two for later in the week.

We made mashed potatoes and broccoli to go with it. It came out really good. The only negative was that the stead didn't have enough flavor. We used some steak seasoning on top, and that helped a little, but it could have had more of a taste to it! Maybe next time!

After we ate we watched to have a nice night in and watch a good movie. We searched through all the available titles on HBO Go and Showtime Anytime, and we couldn't find anything we both wanted to watch. We actually decided to try The Lego Movie, but about 5 minutes in we decided it wasn't right for tonight. I dunno, I just wasn't in the mood for it.

Instead, we decided to start a show called Newsroom... also on HBO. We watched the first two episodes, and it seems really good. Like we really need another show to watch! But... I guess the timing is okay because Scandal and HTGAWM are on a break now and soon so will a lot of our other shows.

Anyway, now it's time for bed.... Our first night in our new bedroom... Kinda scary! I feel like I don't want to change bedrooms and feel uprooted! It's like moving all over again!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
