"welcome back, crazy day" or "finding the perfect christmas tree"

Hey Journal!

Well, for our first day back from vacation, we didn't take it easy at all. We got up at about 8:45 to get ready for Breakfast and Lunch with Santa at the golf course. We had to take the pictures, so we got up, got ready to go, and headed out.

We arrived around 9:45 and set up all the stuff we needed. I took out all my Santa photo stuff from last year, I have a whole cabinet full of cards, labels, stickers... it's crazy.

Santa #1 came at 10:30. He was probably one of the most authentic-looking Santas we've ever had! He was Nicole's uncle. The first session wasn't as organized as the second, but Dan and I worked out the kinks!

After Santa had left, we went down to the office to get the pictures off the camera and work on choosing the photos to print and send out. When we were done with that, we had some things to do before the second session started.

First, we went to Target to get some more photo cards. I had bought a bunch two years ago on clearance at Target after Christmas, but we ran out of them after the first round! I found a really nice one, so we got that and then headed to Price Club.

We needed to get some folding chairs for our Christmas Breakfast on Sunday. We thought about having people bring folding chairs but we decided that we would probably need them again in the future and it would just be a good idea to have them.

We bought 6, and they match our folding table... they're the same material. Made by the same company. We also got a four pack of Orange Juice.

When we got back, it was almost time for Santa #2. This Santa was played by Megan and Kelly's dad! He didn't LOOK as much like Santa, but he was definitely more of a Santa personality!

The one went a lot smoother, and we had no problem figuring out whose pictures belonged to who. We got the photos picked out and then ordered them online. In previous years we have printed them ourselves, but I felt like the photos came out so well that we should print them on nice paper that would really do them justice.

So, we chose the photos and sent them to CVS to get printed.

We left around 3:00 and we headed to Home Depot in Commack to pick out a Christmas Tree. We were a little behind the game because most people got their trees last weekend. We didn't want to get it before we went to Disney, so today was our first opportunity.

We contemplated the Frasier Fir (which I think we have gotten in the past,) but we decided on the classic Balsam Fir! It was freezing cold outside so I had to go to the car and get Dan's ear warmer thing. I was soooo cold! We found a good tree, and everyone who worked there that we encountered said that it just came in last night from Canada. Seriously... like three employees... they all said... "that tree just came in last night from Canada!"

So, we got the tree and had it wrapped up and then the guy there helped us put it on top of the car! We drove home, but on the way we sstopped at CVS to get the photos.

The girl there who rang up my order was a mess. She really had no idea what she was doing, but she eventually go it. She saw one of the photos.... the one of Meg and Kelly with Santa, and she said, "This is such a nice picture! I love things like this!"

When we go home, we left the tree outside for a little while next to the house. It had ice on it so we figured even though it was pretty cold outside, we could let a little bit of it drip off.

I did some laundry and stuff and we set up the tree stand. We bought a new, heavy-duty one this year. It wasn't expensive, so we figured we'd go with a plastic one instead of the metal.

We bought the tree in, and of course the needles have already started surfacing everywhere!

We really contemplated the placement of the tree.... we weren't sure where it would be best. We wanted it in front of the window, but the heater is there, and it seemed stupid to put the tree by the heat! That limited our options, but I'm really happy with our choice.

We put plastic around the tree because it's dripping a lot. The rest of the ice melted once we brought it inside, so I wanted to make sure the floors didn't get messed up.

The plan is to decorate tomorrow after we get home from work.

We watched SHIELD after that... it was the Winter Finale. It was good, but I'm really confused as to what happened at the end. I mean, did Raina die or did she "transform" or whatever. Also, Skye... what happened to her? What was her GIFT? AND why didn't Trip have a negative reaction when he went down into the city? Why was he okay, and the other guy wasn't? So many questions.

Then we watched last week's Once Upon a Time!

Now it's late and time to get to sleep! Back to work tomorrow.... well, real work. Today was just a preview.

Seems like it's going to be a little hectic this week, but not TOO bad. I hope.

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
