"super bowl xlix"

Hey Journal!

Today was the big Super Bowl day! We got up around 10:00 and my mom texted us to see if we wanted to go out to breakfast. We weren't sure at first, but then decided to go to the Professor's Diner. After a little more consideration, we changed our minds and decided on Relish.

We met there at 11:00 and there was about a 20 minute wait. Dan and I realized that almost every time we're there we always get one of the same two waiters. I got the Egg Special, of course... I love it. Dan changed it up and did NOT get his usual Mexicali.

After that, we came back to our house to watch Dan's big appearance on The Price is Right! My mom hadn't seen it yet, so we gave her the full viewing. As soon as we were done with that we hurried out to Ikea! I had wanted to go yesterday, so we figured we would try to fit in in today before our little Super Bowl Party later.

We had a few things we were looking for but we didn't find any of them. We took a while going through the upstairs. My mom found a dresser that she wants for her room. She's trying to get organized and clean up her clothes, so she got the MALM for only $99. She was very happy with it. At the halfway point we went to the cafe and split a plate of meatballs! They were very enjoyable.

Time was running short so we tried to speed it up a little downstairs but there was soooo much to peruse! Dan and I wound up getting a pizza cutter and some nice big straws! We always need straws for frozen drinks and never have big ones!

So, we got the goods, loaded my mom's dresser into the car, and then headed back home. My mom left the dresser with us for now because we didn't have time to bring it over there and come back.

As soon as we got home, Dan went to the gym and I cleaned up in preparation for the Super Bowl. I took a shower and then at 5:00 Re came over for me to help her with her computer. We didn't get too far because I had to install a program that took a long time and then the computer was going to slow! At about 5:45 we went out to get KFC for the party! KFC was hopping-- I had no idea that was a THING for the Super Bowl! There were lots of people there, the parking lot was packed. Interestingly, most of the clientele were Asian!

We headed back, stopped at Key Food to pick up some frozen drink mix, and then we hurried back. We missed the National Anthem but we in time for the start of the game. Jan B had arrived shortly before we got there and Liz came right after we got home. We enjoyed our chicken and had a fun time.

In the beginning of the game I had no idea what was going on. The game was also moving sooo quickly! The first half of the game flew by but then the second half dragged! The commercials this year were even worse than year's past, overall. There were so many downer, depressing commercials! It was terrible. A couple of them were good or funny, but they were definitely the minorities.

I don't understand. If you're going to pay all that money for a commercial during the Super Bowl why aren't you putting in effort to make them fun, original, and epic! There were so many boring, everyday commercials. People are watching to be wowed! They don't want to see the same old! Expectations are so high... how can you let people down like that!?

Anyway, the end of the game got exciting. We were rooting for the SeaHawks (except for Re) and it really looked like they had the game figured out until they completely ruined it in the last few seconds. Oh well! I did really enjoy the brawl that erupted! It was very good TV.

Then we watched them put their hands and mouths all over the trophy and, again, did not see the Disney commercial or Publishers Clearing House. I guess they don't do that anymore!

Re left before the game was over because she was afraid of the snow but it wasn't even snowing! Everyone else left about a half hour or so after, around 10:30. Dan and I cleaned up and then we watched the final episode of House of Cards! Crazy! I can't believe how it all played out. Insane. I really do love this show. Meanwhile, I have so many questions. Luckily the show comes back at the end of the month!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
