"waffles with connor and cameron" or "valentine's day"

Hey Journal!

Happy Valentine's Day!!

This long weekend is only half over and it feels like we've done so much already! We got home so late last night after Escape the Room and then we had to get up nice and early today for a fun-filled morning with Connor and Cameron!

Linda and Dan were going to check out a few places for their wedding that are located around here and she dropped the kids off with us on her way. We got up at 10:00 and they arrived around 10:15. We were still in our pajamas!

As soon as they arrived we got to work making breakfast. Dan put the bacon in the oven and I started mixing the waffle batter. Connor and Cameron helped stir it up and then we made waffles! Dan reminded me to put extra batter mix in it because last time it was too watery. I added some extra and the waffles were the best we've made so far! They didn't have all of those weird holes in them and when they came out they weren't floppy... they had shape. It was amazing.

Cameron set the table and picked out our cups! Then it was time to eat! Everything came out good and cameron is a bacon fiend! She ate so much of it!

When we were done eating we played some Trouble! I haven't played that game in so long... my old one from when we were little. The board is kinda old looking and one of the pieces, a green one, is missing. It's been missing for as long as I can remember!

The game was going on forever, but eventually Connor won! I was just happy that it was over! Everyone kept getting bumped back to the start!

After the game we watched Dan's appearance on The Price is Right! It was fun to watch again and we noticed that the colors of the Fiestaware that were displayed on the show are the exact colors we actually got.

Then, I suggested watching a movie but we couldn't agree on one. Then Cameron suggested that we watch DuckTales so we watched the beginning of the series... the first five episodes!

Around 12:30, Linda and Dan came back after their tours. They had gone to the Watermill and Smithtown Landing. They said Landing was run down and I guess that really doesn't surprise me. I only went there twice.... both times Sweet 16s in High School!

They said the Watermill was really nice and that it wasn't too expensive, either. If they did choose the Watermill, that could be an excellent location for us! Not too far of a drive to get home and very convenient for my mom to pick us up!

Connor and Cameron were watching the end of DuckTales and we hung out and talked for a while. Eventually, around 1:00, we left here and headed out for lunch!

We went to Relish and I got my usual Egg Special! I did, however, branch out a bit this time! I finally got to try one of the famous milkshakes! I got the oreo mint milkshake and it was excellent! I think I'm going to be getting one every time we got there now! Connor got a grilled cheese and Cameron got mac and cheese with BACON! She devoured the bacon there, too!

Linda's Dan had something come up at work that he had to deal with so he wasn't ready to order, and then didn't decide on what he wanted for a while...so we wound up being there a little longer than we would have planned. It wasn't a problem for us, but they had to get to their next venue appointment at 3:45 and we didn't wind up leaving there until about 3:30.

While we were eating, the snow started! They had called for a "blizzard" tonight, and it did start coming down pretty hard in the afternoon. Before heading home, we figured we would be inside the rest of the day so we went to Target.

The Target WiFi has been broken at the Commack Target for the past couple of days and it's super frustrating because you can't get any service in there, so without the WiFi we couldn't use Cartwheel or anything! Ugh! After we finished shopping we went to the very front of the store where I was able to get the weakest 1x signal and check the items to see if they had any discounts!

When we got home it was still snowing so I parked under the carport and Dan went out to shovel. There was about an inch or so to get rid of.

We decided that since there was supposed to be a storm, and since Dan is still not feeling well (he has a bad cold but has been powering through the past couple of days) we would just stay home and take it easy tonight. I know it's Valentine's Day, and I like the idea of going out to eat to celebrate, but really... it's not necessary, especially since Dan wasn't feeling well...and who wants to deal with the throngs of people.

It never did wind up snowing... it all stopped around 5:00! Just another case of the weather people being completely wrong! Anyway, Dan and I watched HTGAWM and then Shark Tank.

I gave Dan his Valentine's Day card and a little box of candy and then we had a candlelit dinner at home! It was about as romantic as you could get for a sick person! Dan had soup and I had leftover spaghetti but we set the table, lit a candle, and enjoyed the meal together! :)

After that, I took a shower and now we're going to watch a movie before heading to bed. We don't know what movie... but we are determined to find something!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
