"fred is here for the weekend" or "big portions"

Hey Journal!

Dan and I woke up at 8:30 this morning and it was nice not having to go in to work. It really didn't feel like we took a day off for some reason... it felt more like a weekend day!

We knew we had to pick Fred up from the train station at about 10:45 and we had a couple of things we wanted to accomplish before that. We got ready and headed out around 9 and our first order of business was Cedarhurst Paper.

Cedarhurst Paper. What a joke. First off, they changed the name to Cedarhurst Party and it's basically a local version of a Party City. It's such a scam!

This whole paper issue for our wedding invitations is such a debacle. It's SO hard to find nice paper and even harder to find it in the sizes you want. There are no "paper" stores. Where can a normal person go to buy a couple of reams of anything other than crappy copy paper?! It's really weird.

After we left there we went to the post office to see about buying stamps. We wanted the Red and White "Forever" heart stamps. Of course they didn't have them!

Next we headed over to the Huntington train station to pick up Fred! We arrived about 5 minutes before the train came in. I don't think I've ever been in the parking lot of that station before... it's so poorly designed... especially if you're waiting to pick someone up.

Fred's train arrived and we put his suitcase in the trunk of the car and headed off to breakfast! When Fred got in the car he informed us that he had purchased the same car as me! That was funny because before that, he and Dan had the same car. Fred's was black and Dan's was blue. Now, mine is Magnetic Grey and Fred's is blue!

We only had to wait about 5 minutes for a table at Relish. Fred was quick to point out how big the booths were and how much food we got for breakfast! He secretly loves the American portion sizes!

On a side note, the pregnant lady was not there when we arrived and this is the second time we've been there and hadn't seen her so we were pretty certain that she MUST have had the baby by now! However, while we were eating, she came walking through the restaurant!! STILL pregnant! It REALLY REALLY seems like she's been pregnant for a year! lol

After breakfast we came home and gave Fred the Grand Tour of the house. First we started with the backyard and while we were back there, Dan and I put the vacuum into the pool to prepare it for later!

We came inside and then got settled in. We decided to go in the pool this afternoon but we had to wait for the robot to finish so we took a little trip down to the bluff. We walked around there, took in the nice view, and then when we got back the pool was sparkling clean!

I sunscreened up and got ready to go in! I know I keep saying this but I have never used so much sunscreen in one summer! I usually stay much farther away from the sun and I'm happy with that, but this summer has been so cool and the only time that is worth swimming is when the sun is beating down so I have to really be cautious!

Anyway, we were in the pool for a while and it was 90 degrees out but still kinda breezy. As I mentioned, I had a ton of sunscreen on but when we got out of the pool it looked like my shoulders were peeling. That was odd because I didn't get burned and even if I had, it wouldn't be peeling THAT fast. Maybe the sunscreen flaked or something. I dunno.

We got out of the pool and hung out at home for a while. I showered up and then we went out for dinner.

On the way, we stopped at Target so Fred could get some soap. He forgot his at home and wanted a certain kind of body wash. Then we went to Price Club to get hamburger rolls. We were out and we're planning to have a little BBQ tomorrow and we'll need those!

Originally we planned to go to Lotus East for dinner tonight but Dan said he was more in the mood for BBQ and gave Fred the choice. He picked BBQ so we went to Smokin' Al's!

Again, Fred was overwhelmed by the American portions! However, not as much as the people sitting next to us! They must have been first-timers because they had a table of six, I think, and each ordered an appetizer! They had a huge stack of to-go boxes piled up BEFORE they even got their meals! Wow.

When we were done eating we walked over to the big park across the street and Dan and fred played with a tennis ball on the court!

On the way home we got milkshakes at All American but Fred could not partake. He was quite full.

He was pretty tired after a long trip here and a full day so we came home, watched The Carbonaro Effect, and now it's time for bed!!

It's been a long day! Tomorrow morning we're getting up at 9:00 and picking up Kristen to go to see Norm! We're going to unite two Quebecois right here in New York!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
