"super savers!"

Hey Journal!

This morning Dan and I got up around 9:00 to get ready to go to breakfast with Kristen. She was supposed to pick us up at 9:30 but texted us to let us know she was running late. While we were waiting for her, we watched a little more of the Barbara Walters interview from last night.

Kristen arrived around 10:00 in her NEW CAR. Yes, just last week she decided that she wanted to trade in her Honda Accord for a CR-V! It's really nice. It doesn't look that much bigger from the outside but there's so much more room inside! I really like it! I also love that it has a backup camera... I really wish my car had one (but more on that in a little while!)

We thought there might be a wait at Relish but there wasn't and we walked right in and got seated. I went really wild this morning and ordered the Egg Special with ham and white toast. Oh...wait... that's what I get EVERY SINGLE TIME we got there!

We had a nice breakfast and did a little more wedding debrief since we hadn't seen Kristen since last Saturday.

Oh, so that reminds me that it's been ONE WEEK since our wedding! How exciting! I can't believe it's been a week, but it also feel like so much longer. I think I always feel that way about everything.

After breakfast we went out to do a few things. Our first stop was Macy's in Commack to return the last piece of clothing from all the suits we bought! Sheesh! We took care of that and then, when we returned to Kristen's car, we decided to play with the backup camera a little! Kristen was showing us the different angles it did and so I got out and went behind the car to test it out! She and Dan took pictures of me staring into the backup camera! It was my first backup camera selfie! I liked it!

Next we went to Target and perused the goods. Dan and I were going to get some food but decided we also needed to do our Thanksgiving shopping and had a coupon for a $10 gift card with a $50 purchase so we decided to wait until later. I did, however, find a really cool reindeer decoration for Christmas!

Kristen dropped us back off at home and we watched the rest of 20/20 and a little later we went out to Target to get our groceries. We had a list of stuff we needed for Thanksgiving but only half of it was stuff we could get at Target. We got as much as we could and then we also bought some regular food items that we needed anyway. We easily made it to $50 so we got our $10 gift card. In addition, we had a ton of stuff on Cartwheel and a $1 off and Market Pantry purchase of $5 or more...so we got that, too.

Tomorrow we're going to go to ShopRite to get the rest of what we need.

On the way home we stopped by to say hello to Dan's mom. She was home alone this weekend because Dan's dad went upstate to go hunting. We also wanted to pick up two gifts that her friends had gotten us.

We hung out there for a little while and checked out the new paint in the bathroom and bedroom. The guy was just finishing up painting everything and was loading up his truck while we were there. We didn't stay long, though... we had a lot of frozen food and some milk so we wanted to get it into the freezer.

When we got home, Dan went to the gym. I took a shower and then when Dan got home we asked his mom if she wanted to come over and play a game or watch a movie or something. She didn't want to just sit around...she said she wanted to go out to Home Goods so she came over, picked us up, and we went to the store.

We went to Home Goods over by the Commack South Target. There was this wild woman working there who was banging a ton of pots and pans all over the place while she was trying to organize the section. Home Goods always has such random stuff and most of it is weird and I don't know why anyone would buy it. We did find this weird chicken thing that was only $9.99. I wanted to get it and Dan's mom said I should... Dan was no so thrilled with it. Dan's mom asked them if we could get a discount on it because it had a little chip on it. They took 10% off so I got it! We had a gift card from my cousin for the Housewarming party to use, too!

Next we went over to the ghetto Target nextdoor. I like to go there because they often have stuff that the other Target doesn't have. I think it's a combination of two things... I think it's a little bit of a bigger store and I also think not nearly as many people shop there. At Commack Target this morning they only had ONE of the reindeer left and I bought the last one. Here, they had like four of them.

We didn't buy anything there, though, because Dan's mom wanted to take advantage of the $50/$10 deal and their food section is much more limited. So, we hurried over to the other Target to do her shopping there.

This was the THIRD time we were at that Target today and the fourth time we were at any Target today!

We were really super-savers on this trip, though... it was incredible. There were so many things on Cartwheel and we showed Dan's mom how to scan the items to see if they are on Cartwheel. We also got her the "sample" text coupon to save $1 off any Up & Up purchase and $1 off any Market Pantry purchase!

Dan and I got a few items, too... we got a few soups which were on Cartwheel for 20% off and a couple of other random items. When we got up to the register it was a few minutes before closing and the line was starting to build up. There was only one register open and we were 3rd on line. We didn't wait too long but the people behind us did and the line got much longer.

The guy at the register was nice... he was really quiet but very friendly and talkative. He took $3 off of our order as "an apology" for the line. He did the same for Dan's mom but we made out better percentage-wise. She got a lot of stuff and so, even though she got $3 off it didn't make as much of a difference.

Our cashier told Dan that he had had a rough day at work and Dan told him "it's only going to get worse," meaning that it's just the start of the holiday season and the the crazy shopping frenzy hasn't begun! He didn't know what Dan meant and said, "yeah, just wait until I have bills to pay and stuff."

It was funny... he was really nice though and we'll probably try to go to his lane if we get the chance in the future.

After that Dan's mom dropped us back off at home, we put away our foods, and then watched an episode of Major Crimes. We were watching it on the TV but the computer had a meltdown and refused to show anything. We had to watch it on the crappy Nextbook that Dan won on TPIR. However, in Chrome it was all jumpy so we had to use IE. Sheesh!

Now it's time for bed!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
