"merry christmas"

Hey Journal!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

This morning Dan and I woke up at 9:45 and we were in no particular rush to get out of bed since Santa hadn't left any presents for us to open! Sometimes I think it would be fun to get eachother gifts but then I realize that it makes no sense and I get over it pretty quickly!

At 10:00 we headed downstairs and watched the Disney World Christmas parade. I was good, a little weird, and basically one giant commercial for Disney! I mean, that's what it always is, so I knew what to expect! Dan was happy to see Aunt Reba up on stage and we noticed there was something weird about the Castle. I don't know what they've done but something about the background is a little different. They added little turret things to the sides but I think there's also something else going on and I couldn't place it.

After that, Dan went for a walk around the neighborhood instead of going to the gym. I used this time to bake some more cookies to bring over to Dan's parents' house today! They were such a hit yesterday that I figured it would be a good idea to make a batch for Christmas Day!

They came out good and, as the last batch was cooling, I went upstairs and took a shower. We were supposed to arrive a 1:30 and everyone else was coming at 3:00. This gave us some time to exchange presents and stuff beforehand.

We finished wrapping and preparing all of our presents, got dressed and ready, and then left here around 1:20. We got to Dan's parents' house at about 1:40... it was apparently perfect timing because Dan's brother said they had just arrived a minute or two before us.

The first order of business was to exchange presents. Dan's grandma was late but we didn't wait for her... we forged on without her. It didn't take too long since there weren't THAT many people to exchange with and not too much else.

Dan's present to his parents was to get tickets to the Mets for Opening Day. Even though he's paid for them already, it was a little hard to figure out how to present them since he doesn't even have the tickets yet. He decided to write a poem and it came out great! While I was in the shower he worked on all of his rhymes and I thought it was perfect! Everyone else really liked it, too!

After we were done exchanging Christmas presents, Dan's parents gave us our wedding present! A gift certificate for a cruise! Wahoo! Now we have more money to put towards our trip...even though we haven't planned anything yet.

At about 2:45, Dan's grandma arrived and we were able to finish our presents. We wrapped up (ha) just before 3:00.

Shortly after 3, Dan's Uncle, Aunt, and my mom arrived. We hung out and talked and stuff. Dan's parents made a big thing of meat for dinner and they cooked half of it at their house and the other half at their neighbor's house. The neighbors are in Florida so they went inside and used their oven.

At one point, we went over to check on it and I could hear the fire alarm going off as we walked up the driveway! When we got inside it was all smoky! Just a note to self, this is why I would never ever in a million years want anyone to have a key to my house. You just never know... and I wouldn't want to be away and worry that something could be happening that I didn't know about!

Dinner was good, we all gathered around the table and had a nice meal.

After dinner we all played Taboo... it was guys vs. girls. The guys won, of course! Then we had dessert. The cake we got was a big hit and everyone seemed to like my sugar cookies, as well!

For the past few years, Jackie has invited us over her apartment to watch the Dr. Who Christmas Special on Christmas night! We were looking forward to going again this year but we wound up staying much later than we have previously! The get-together always starts at 8 and until now, we haven't had any problem being there. We texted her to let her know we probably wouldn't be able to make it.

We left around 9:45 for Dan's parents' house and were on our way home when Dan got a message from Jackie that they hadn't started the show yet and would wait if we were going to come. We diverted and made it there in about 15 minutes!

As soon as we got there, we watched the show. It was good, but not a particularly Christmassy episode... usually they have more of a Christmas theme! River Song was in it, and I always enjoy her...the only problem is that whenever she is in the show, I never can figure out what's going on with the timeline. I couldn't work out how this particular instance fit in with the rest of their timeline and the rest of the Doctors! No idea!

When it was over we pretty much headed right out. I was feeling exhausted and ready to get home and get to bed!

Tomorrow we're getting up to go to Target early doors! This is the first time I've thought to go to Target to raid the Christmas leftovers BEFORE the crowds arrive to ravage them!

We have to get up early though...they open at 8! Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
