"cactus bowl"

Hey Journal!

This morning Dan and I got up around 11:00 and watched a couple of episodes of Walking Dead to get the day started. I was happy that we got to sleep late today because we've been getting up early the past few weekends and probably will be for the next couple of weekends!

Just as we finished the second episode, my mom stopped by to give us a St. Patrick's Day gift She wasn't here very long, just gave us our gifts and also replaced the potting soil in a couple of our plants!

Around 2:00, Dan went out to get rid of our annoying rose bushes! There were about four of them right in the front yard under that nice "umbrella tree." The rose bushes were so annoying because they were all viney and hard to trim and they made the tree look like a mess. Since they are still dead, it was a good time to get rid of them - before they start coming back to life.

Some of them were already starting to turn green. It looks SO MUCH better without them....and they never looked all that great, anyway! They only bloomed like twice a year for a couple of weeks and even then they weren't so hot.

While Dan was doing that, I got to work on various outside and inside tasks. First, I fixed some of the bird spikes that had fall out from under the carport. I don't know if they fell about because of the wind or if the birds are actually knocking them over! If they come out again, we may have to attach them with more permanently.... right now they're just laying up there.

Next, I vacuumed my Prius! It's been in need of a good cleaning and so I got the floors take care of and then put down a new mat on the driver's side for Dan. Once he starts driving my car he's going to need something heavy duty to keep his heavy foot from going right through the floor! He actually made a HOLE in his car's mat and the thing under it!!

I did some work inside the house, too...cleaned up and getting things under control.

When Dan was done with the roses, it was starting to get chilly outside. He came in and showered up and then we watched some TV. We got in an episode of Match Game, too and then we had to get ready to go out.

Our plans for the evening were to go to a bar in Bay Shore than Re and Jen B had picked out. Dan and I left here at 7:00 and we were going to meet at 7:30. As we approached the town there was a lot of activity and a bunch of police cars. The streets were a disaster and we realized that they had a St. Patrick's Day parade today!

Of course, we went to the parade in Kings Park last weekend and it was NOTHING like this.... This one must have been wild. There were beer cans and cups and other garbage everywhere! Wild. It smelled like beer in the air, too. We got to the bar a couple of minutes before Re, Jen B, and Lau. It was packed and when they arrived we all agreed that we should go somewhere else and come back another time.

They were charging a $10 cover, too. You know I don't do that. But it didn't matter -- it was too insane anyway.

We decided to go to Houlihan's in Farmingdale so we hopped back in the car and off we went. We had to wait about 15 minutes for a table which wasn't bad.

I got two drinks... a mudslide and a cactus bowl! The cactus bowl was huge and tasted good. The mudslide was good, too... but it was a lot smaller and didn't have as much alcohol -- at least I don't think it did.

I got the chicken parm for dinner - love their chicken parm at Houlihan's!

We had a fun night, everyone had a good time and it was nice to get out and stuff.

My stomach started to bother me as I got to the bottom of the cactus bowl. I don't know if the drink was too sugary or if it was a combination of the mudslide AND the cactus bowl, but I couldn't make it all the way to the end!

Alas, we headed home and got back around 11:30. I took a Tums to settle my stomach and then we watched some Match Game before bed!

We have to get up early in the morning to go over to Dan and Jackie's house to help them decorate for Evelyn and Marilyn's party... and on top of that the clocks go forward tonight! We lose an hour of sleep so we've gotta get to bed now!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
