"bachelorette morning" or "dismal trivia performance"

Hey Journal!

Dan had set his alarm for 10am when we went to bed last night and we got to bed at a decent time and we were wound up getting a pretty good night's sleep. Of course, we did have a slight interruption that kept us from getting as much sleep as we should have!

At 7:00, an alarm started going off. It was the alarm on the nightstand at the hotel! UGH! A previous guest must have set it! We were kinda dazed when it went off and Dan tried to find a switch to turn it off in the dark. He got it to stop but he must have hit the snooze button because it started again five minutes later! Dan was in the bathroom this time so I got up and just grabbed it and tried to press stuff. It went off and didn't happen again so I guess I did the right thing!

When 10:00 rolled around we got up and started to get our room in order. Linda really wanted to go swimming in the pool before heading back so we all met down at the pool. The hotel pool was a little but of a mess. They had a hot tub, which I was very excited about, but the whole pool area was really grungy! It may very well have been clean but it just had an old, dirty, gritty look!

The hotel worked for us but, overall, it was a little bit of a rundown hotel. They had a poster in the lobby which looked like a third grade elementary school project posterboard with plans for an upcoming renovation! Hopefully it will be nicer after that -- if we ever come back!

Anyway, we had a good time in the pool. Linda, Christine, Kim, Dan, and I were the only ones to take a dip. I went in the regular pool first and it was surprisingly warm. Then I went to the hot tub for a while and when I got back to the pool it felt FREEZING in comparison!

When we were done we went back to our rooms, showered up, and then met in the lobby to go for some breakfast.

On our way back from the pool, Dan stopped to get extra towels from the housekeeping lady and while he was there, he took a couple more of those Lemon Sage hand cream things. He loves them. The lady encouraged him to take more so we left with about 10!

For breakfast we went to a place very nearby called "The Pantry." It had a very small-town feel to it. The place was cool.. the food was just okay, though. My eggs were weird and my pancakes were gross. The sausage was good, though.

Despite the food not being the best we all had a very good time and it was a good end to the bachelorette weekend!

When we were done eating, we all said our goodbyes and everyone hit the road. Dan and I took a little while leaving the parking lot and we actually saw Linda and Christine's Suburban pass by again! I guess they went the wrong way out of the restaurant!

Dan and I wanted to visit Dan's roommate from college who went to school in the area.

Later, we went to Wegman's because... how can you not go to Wegman's when you're anywhere near one! Sadly, they did not have any of the special soaps I love. It's their Christmas and Fall soaps that are amazing -- I guess they don't have any this time of year. We got a few of our favorite items and when we left the store it felt like the temperature had dropped significantly!

We had a little time to kill before trivia so we decided to watch an episode of Walking Dead in the car! Of course, since I no longer have unlimited data, we had to find some Wifi. First we went to a hotel and parked near the back of the hotel and latched onto their wifi. It was the lobby wifi so we didn't have to enter a password to get on! This creepy janitor kept walking past us and then about 15 minutes later he came back and parked alongside us in his car. It was a little weird so we decided to leave.

We went to another hotel and we were able to get a strong Wifi signal there but they required a password. No password, no problem! We just called the front desk and asked. The guy who answered gave it to us and we were in business!

We arrived at Vintage around 6:15 and we were nice and early for trivia. We saw a lot of cars in the parking lot and a lot of people filing in so we were worried about not getting a table! When we got inside it wasn't really crowded yet but it did start to fill up shortly after.

We said Hi to Dan and told him about the the bachelorette party and Mohegan Sun and he filled us in on his hip surgery and stuff. We got our trivia packet and got ready for the game!

I wish I had better news but we really put on a dismal performance tonight! The trivia is tough and with just two people it's really hard. We did much better our first time -- possibly because it was the Year in Review show and we're both very up on current events. In the regular shows there's a lot wide of a range... which is why I think we did so well with our bigger team the second time!

It must be really hard to put together these shows because you have to come up with these questions. Where do you even start when coming up with these things!?

I was especially disappointed in our stupidity on one question. Each week you get a free answer on Facebook and Dan actually SNAPCHATTED THE ANSWER TO ME EARLIER IN THE DAY! Then, when the question came up Dan and I completely didn't think about it and DIDN'T USE THE FREE ANSWER. What fools!

Anyway, we had a fun time. I know, it would have been nice to have done well but at least we had fun and it was good seeing Dan! As soon as it was over at 8:45, we hit the road to beat the snow!

It was just starting to flurry there and EVERY TIME we've gone to Trivia it's been snowing when we left. We heard that it was really starting to come down at home but it was just a light flurry in Worcester!

We were a little worried about driving in the snow but the weather forecast seemed to indicate that it wouldn't really get bad until after midnight and out ETA was 12:12am.

We made pretty good time and our trip was uneventful. It really wasn't snowing until we got to Southern Connecticut. Then it started coming down hard for a while but as we drove farther west, it tapered off for a while. On Long Island it was snowing more than it had been in CT but it really wasn't sticking to the roads yet.

Anyway, we got home a little later than expected...about 12:25. We showered up and now we're off to bed. I know we're going to be tired tomorrow but it was a fun weekend so we're going to power through!

Until tomorrow...

Goodnight. :)
