"visiting jimmy and mike"

Hey Journal!

It's currently Sunday evening, and I'm here to fill you in on Saturday's events! We woke up around 11:00 yesterday morning, and we got ready for our little spontaneous trip to Rhode Island to visit Jimmy and Mike!

We grabbed the stuff we needed, and then headed off! We had to stop at Dan's parents' house on the way, and we wound up staying there for about 30 minutes, and then we also got bagels for the road, so it was about 1:00 by the time we actually got going!

We made good time on the expressway, and then through the city, but as we got into Connecticut, we started to hit a lot of traffic. It was very sporadic, and I kept using my phone to find alternative routes to avoid it! We did a pretty good job at taking some random roads to avoid the red patches, but some of it was unavoidable, and it wound up taking us about 5 hours to get there....when it should be about 3.5!

So, we arrived around 6 and we hung out and caught up with Jimmy and Mike! I can't believe it had been over two years since the last time we saw them! In fact, it was about 2.5! It was December 31, 2008! Then Mike fired up the grill and made hamburgers, and we had dinner! :)

After that, we took a walk from their house to downtown Providence! It took about 30 minutes, but it wasn't bad at all! I had a couple of drinks with dinner, so I was already feeling it! Jimmy was afraid it was going to rain, so he changed into pants, but luckily... it didn't rain at all! We went to check out WaterFire, but it hadn't started yet, so they suggested that we take a walk up to a place that had these big tubes of Sangria! As we were walking that way, I noted that we were headed in the direction of the place where we had gone for Casey's graduation years and years ago!

Well, it turned out that the place they were taking us to, Paragon, was the very same place where we had gone for her graduation party! :P How random is that! So, we had a fun time there.... Jimmy ordered chocolate cake, and was angry that it didn't arrive at the table in two minutes! I don't like Sangria, but I got a cranberry vodka, and was quite happy with it!

So, we hung out there for a while, and Jimmy and Mike's friend Eric came and hung out for a bit also. We had a fun time, and when we left there, we went over to Eric's apartment and played Apples to Apples! We played for a LOOOONG time, it was very fun. Then at about 12:45, we left and started walking back!

Jimmy wanted to take a taxi, but the rest of us insisted that we walk, and it was a really nice night! I didn't mind it at all! By the time we arrived, I was out of breath and exhausted, but it was worth it!

We stayed up a little bit longer, inflated the air mattress, got ready for bed, and at about 2:30, we called it a night and went to sleep!

So, that was our exciting Saturday! I will be back later with today's story!
